Don't know what the mangusta version looks like, but it gives me the impression they rover-fied it a bit at the back and stuck an MG badge on the front. Hopefully this is an interim car and they'll do a proper MG version in the future.

Maybe I'm old before my time but I think the lines of the new MG are far better than a lot of the new cars coming out of Italy, France and to a lesser degree Germany. MG now have the most progressive and flexible managements of any car producer in Europe. They also seem to have performance orientated engineers on board that know the fundementals of enjoyable driving and are not frighened to build it into the cars they build for us. So........... BE NICE!!!

Ok! Facts! If you look at the design that the guys at MG-Rover Design department performs it is years ahead of the ugly froglike and comic cars that comes from France and the crasy designs which some German manufacturers puts into reality. The people at MG-Rover shows just like our friends from Blackpool that they know where to put the wheels, roofline together with the front- and rear end, to make it to a harmonic design. All in a good design is a question of proportions. Look f.ex at the stupid looking Audi TT. With lots of designwork done and a rear window placed upside down, and no proportions whatsoever. The worst example of bad design is of course the BMW Z3 in both forms. Be honest, if it had another badge than BMW at the front, nobody had bought it at all. The list of bad designs of today is to long to mention here. It seems that there is too many people involved in a cars design and no cooperaton. No, let people who know about design and proportions do the work. I have worked with design and layout for thirty years now and it´s a hard work to find good designs of today.

My thoughts too once I'd read the date. Bizarre indeed.

To begin with I thought it was some lame attempt to build a Chinese luxury car.

And when this thread was started my present MGF was 6 months old.
