It's a shame to see some of these pics but good to know that there are the right owners on here who are committed to sorting it for long term. Spongy and Scott's threads among others are really good for the rest of us when the time comes.

For me I have just purchased my car, and to be honest every time I come on here I worry about something else, I've got new outriggers and from a good inspection the waxoil appears to have done its job underneath, the powder coat still intact in all but a couple of small places, so I can't complain. My diff could do with sorting for sure and from above I can see some surface rust on one of the members in the engine bay.
Right now though I'm just going to drive the bloody thing and enjoy it! I will come to the chassis when it needs it and try not get paranoid in the meantime.
Good luck with the work and keep us updated, once done you won't ever have such worries again.

I believe new chassis for Cerbs are planned by Richard Thorpe/TVR Power by the end of this year?

First thought was some form of scaffolding around/above the car for the lift day, some bogies to move the body when off, and low load the body to my mums until chassis ready (so long as she doesn't sell the house in the meantime!)

And call TVR Power tomorrow for a chat about chassis's ;-)
I think if we fabricate two large H frames joined by a common `cross bar` then we'll be able to do it quite easily in your garage mate.
No idea of the cost but, would need two block and tackles too (at least), maybe if somebody else is looking at doing this you could have a bit of a group buy thing going on and we'll be the Guinea Pigs for it. [clarkson] "What could possibly go wrong" [/clarkson] hehe

Edit ;
Going by the pictures in this thread we may actually be able to lift it with 3 engine hoists.

If say 10 of you got together for a group buy i'm sure they would make them, there not going to turn down a £30K order!

My kinda spirit!

Could deff replicate that arrangement in scaffolding. Probably worthwhile moving the car to a quieter part of the garage though, and take up a double space. Time to price up some 2nd hand scaffold poles.

Anyone know any Cerb friendly builders merchants? ;-)

Wouldnt that be too brittle and not enough flex in the members so would crack badly?

Happy to just have a complete chassis atm!!

I built supports out of 4" fence posts and ground plates. Welded up cups to take the cross post and put holes all the way up the upright at 2" intervals so you have a lot of adjustment on the height. You can lift the body off with one high lift trolley jack and one engine crane.

If you want to borrow my supports when I have finished with them drop me a PM. I hope to have it all back together by July.

It helps that I have a fencing specialist next door. Plan B was to ask if I could borrow their forklift if the engine crane hadn't done the job hehe

I am not so sure. The last time I investigated no one actually had a jig for a Cerb chassis, though one person (ex factory) did claim to have the plans needed to build one.

think when they start reading these threads they will.I have read the jigs should be done towards the end of this year.I for one will be on the list..unless a really good chassis comes up before hand.......just bought a mig welder...mask.....welding gear.....metal to practice on.....and have a mate who is fussier than me on his cars who can weld(and i hope will teach me)

You could build a jig from your chassis when you take the body off! hehe

Cant quite see from the pics, but did you remove all your interior to reduce weight, before doing the body lift?

Did the body flex coming off or going back on (if it is back on) leaving any marks in the laquer?

Just a thought. How about a pool table trolley. That'll easily handle the weight and isn't too expensive.
