after having owned the car for more than a year
replaced startermotor
renewed cams and followers and reshimmed valve clearances....the pump unit decided to pack up that drives water, oil and p/s
so in a nutshell i took the car to andy at apm for a newly built later model 4.2ajp to be fitted which was not cheap but then what is these days.

hopefully now il be able to get some pleasure out of the car rather than constantly working on it.
got to run it in for a couple thousand miles before dropping synthetic in it so 4k rpm limit till then but thats fine as im quite happy poodling around in her listening to that lovely exhaust tonecool

dont think ive ever been so excited about driving a car especially one that ive had for over a year and done less than 50 miles in herwobble

ive now got the old lump that came out in my workshop so il start to strip that down and see exactly what failed on it then fully rebuild it in my own time.

on the plus side also, andy said the car was clean and straight on the underside with no rust issues which is a good sign;)

Was down at APM a couple of Saturdays ago, both looked nice cars. There was also dark purple(?) one with a chin spoiler that looked pretty mean.

Did either of you see Andy's new toy??

Andy said it had been in a garage for a few years as the owner spent thousands on it and lost interest on it, not my cup of tea but I took a couple of photographes and showed them to a friend of mine who is mad on yankie cars and he ran straight to the nearest toilet and when he emerged he wanted to know if it was for sale and how much

laugh
The condition of it is outstanding, dont think there's a spot of dirt or rust anywhere on it and a complete steal by all accounts. Quite happy to have part funded it with my engine rebuild wink

Just a follow up to this thread i started FIVE years ago, how time flies!

Had 40,000 on the clock when i bought her..........Still has 40,000 on the clock 5 years later after the full engine rebuild by Andy at APM.
So in that time ive only just covered 500 miles of the 1500 run in period yikes

Maybe after ive got the door lock issue sorted il start to use the car again but having my Gtr35 sitting here with a choice of 30 other cars to use its kinda hard to use the Cerb which is a shame really as one of my all time favourite cars ever since i was knee high to a grass hopper lol.

One thing i have noticed though is how the prices of them have rocketed which is also the case with all the Jap stuff we deal with, must be since the doors opened up in the States where these old skool type cars can now be legally imported and used on their roads.........there was a time when i was going to sell it and was gonna take a big hit on the money i had spent on the car (especially with the cost of the engine build and all) but looks like im now in equity with it which has to be a good thing

Still a great looking car on the roads today and nothing beats the sound of one of these cars, Awsome machines
