Got a problem with my key fob / immobiliser hopefully someone can help me out.

Opened my cerb using the key fob just as I do every other day, got in and was just about to start it then realised I forgot something in the house. Got out, went into the house and came back out again. Got back into the car, obviously the immobiliser timer will have kicked in so I wouldn't be able to start it. Pressed the button on the key fob so I can start the car but it would not disarm the immobiliser. Now the button does not work at all - I can't even lock the car. So I went and got my spare keys and they are exactly the same - does not work one bit. I can still start the car by plugging in the immob key to disarm it. I'm just wondering if it's possible I may of nudged something inside the car to make it not work? Or could it simply be both key fobs have ran out of battery? Anyone have any other ideas?
Cheers

First thing I would try seeing it is unlikely that both fobs have flat batteries is to disconnect the car battery for a couple of minutes. That will reset the alarm/immobiliser. Providing the alarm was not armed then it will not go off when you disconnect it.

I just had the very same thing. I've been away visiting the inlaws for a week and bought a new stereo and a GoPro in the January sales. The battery was too flat to start the car and when jumping I realised the fob button wouldn't disarm the immobiliser and then it wouldn't lock the car.

After a couple of drives to try the GoPro I read the above, tried it and all is again well in my little world! smile

I have a simillar problem with the immobiliser. I went to start the car so I could put it away for the winter and found the battery to flatg to start it ( no supprise there ). I hooked it up for a jump start but the host battery didn't have enough torque in it. The Cerb flatened the both and the alarm went off. I locked the Cerb and took the battery off for a re-charge. After a couple of days I put the battery back on, unlocked the car, got in and pressed the black button and got the ingnition light on. I then (as I have done for the last 4 years) pressed the key fob which illuminates the other dash light (the one that has an oil can when it lights up) and nothing happened. No light and no broom broom. What I do have is the little red light flashing by the immobiliser slot in the cubby hole under the dash. I have tried sticking my dongle thing (I have 2 of these) into the slot but nothing changes. Has anybody any ideas on this please?

Unlock the car and then disconnect the battery for a couple on min and then try, this should reset the immobiliser.

Thanks for the reply.

I have tried the battery off and tried the key of doom but it's neither of these.
The wierd thing is that the led on the slot for the touchkey receptacle wont stop flashing.
I really need to move the car so if anyone knows how to by pass the immodiliser could they
pm me.
Here is a picture of my doggy looking sad because Daddy can't start his car.

If the dongle wont reset the immobiliser it looks like it has failed. You need to speak to a Meta alarm specialist. Either Carl Baker or the other chap down south whose name escapes me...

I have had a similar occurance today.Been out in the car for the 1st time in 2014,parked it up and struggled to lock it with the fob.Came back to it and it wouldn`t unlock.Tryed spare fob, changed fob batteries and still couldn`t unlock the car.So i got in the car the secret way but that set the alarm off and i couldn`t cancel it.The car will start and drive but i cannot cancel the alarm, also when i turned the car off the ignition was still live.I have disconnected the battery and i am hoping this resets the alarm. If anyone has any ideas whats occuring I would welcome comments, thanks.

Coincidentally, I had the same problem this afternoon. Left the car with the windows down and unlocked, doors and windows not working so leant in and used the red cable to open the doors. Battery was too flat so jumped her off, still no doors/windows/boot. Got in through the secret method, sorted the doors and windows out by unplugging the control unit for a few minutes, so all is well now except for the fact that the key fob won't deactivate immobiliser or lock/unlock the doors.

I wonder whether they lose the code when the car is sat unlocked for a while? Virtually every time I have left the windows down and car unlocked, in any of the TVRs, it has caused problems later on with door opening/locking/windows etc.

In the boot, above the fuel tank where all the black boxes are scattered! You should have a door and window control unit. Just unplug the block connectors and replug after a minute or so. Leave the door open while you do it!
