Thanks chaps. I need to get a quantity of that paint for some minor touch ups prior to flatting in and machine polishing so I'm going to have to hunt around for someone who can mix it. I've got the codes from the paint code threads on here, but I tried Halfords on Sunday and they don't have that colour under the TVR code of PPG020 and BMW 284 is listed as Amythest rather than Rolex Blue. As it's been a very expensive weekend so far I decided to just leave it rather than buy it just to paint a test piece to look at the colour...
Took four goes to match my paintwork and that was by the guy who painted it in the first place a few years ago.
Just had the front sorted and this time Chris in knaresborough used a spectrometer to match the colour...perfect.
Sorry to here about your first brake down but at least it's out of the way and I would look at the clutch if your doing both. Have a chat with the seller to see when it was done.

Hi there,Russ told me what most of the inspection points were but he didn't actually have a copy of the report to give me. If you'd be willing I'd be delighted to have a read. I expect to lift the body off at some point, but I'd like to leave it two years ideally as we really need a new kitchen and bathroom before we sell the place we're in and buy a new house. I had a look underneath briefly and the chassis looks in reasonable nick. A refurb wouldn't hurt of course...
The clutch itself (and slave seals) were done just over 1000 miles ago. Hopefully I'll get away with it or we're not going to have a lot of disposable income left until April, but we'll find out when the gearbox comes off later in the week. I'm sure there will be loads of meat left on the plates - I'm just hoping they've not been soaked in brake fluid.

after leaving it with a garage for 3 weeks getting a flat battery and full of water, they decided they wouldn't look at it for a further week. I towed it home and started work on Friday afternoon. Yesterday brakedust (Brett) dropped by for support and got stuck in - thank you! - as well as hoverboy (James) with his Tuscan S. My father also came 80 miles to help.
The clutch did look fairly new but whoever did it made a real botch of it. The propshaft to diff flange bolts were assembled finger tight, as were the allen key bolts holding the gearbox to the bellhousing. I'm glad I did this now because that could have made a real mess.
The apparent cause of failure of the slave cylinder seals was the use of the wrong grease on assembly. Afrer a thorough clean up of the bellhousing the Raceproved slave was installed with red rubber grease. There were reminants of greyish green grease from last time. All the seals were fine apart from the two which seal the slave to the bellhousing - the two which had been in contact with the green greaae - which had swollen and dissolved.
It's done now though, and seems to drive fine. I still need to adjust the clutch pedal though which rests too high. You need to lift your foot off the floor to find it. Apart from that thpugh, it's fine. I think it could use a tune up. It hunts a little in the cruise etc. I'm thinking of taking it down to Duxford this year for Flyning Legends airshow and visiting Joolz on the way back up for a few days for a 12k service and remap.

I had a nice run around the local area this evening in the warmest, driest weather we've had so far.
I've been able to get full throttle in 2nd at last, and even thought of having a crack at some power in 1st gear which predictably made things lively again. I'm really enjoying this car, despite the mandraulic steering I presently have. I hope to investigate my dead electric PAS pump this weekend if it stays dry. Last weekend I had to change a starter motor on another of my cars.
My daughter wanted me to go faster but I value my license!
