I didn't - was the advice from the supplier. Went with their recommendation.

Apologies for the bump, need a new battery and have been looking around.

I'm going for an S4 009 Bosch (086). I know it's long at 278mm, but I've seen that people have fitted the same as this on this thread.

What's surprised me recently, is the ridiculous pricing on eurocarparts.com lately, when they used to be very competitive?

That Bosch battery takes some punishment.

I think mine’s about 7 years old now and has had multiple full discharges, and recovered.

It can’t have long left, but I’m well impressed by it smile

Have you seen any photos of it fitted?

Optima were very well regarded but were bought by another company in the last 5-8 years (ish) and users report that they are not as well put together as the earlier models.

Bosch S5 is my current favourite, cheap enough from ECP with their discount codes and a 5year guarantee. I wanted to use a stop-start battery in my non stop-start application for the addition capacity and CCA.

Varta are very well respected, but, with a healthy alternator and fairly regular, fairly long drives, any battery should be able to maintain its charge.

Have look at Yuasa too. TVR fitted them as standard for a while and after one lasted 14 years I'd no reason to change to a different brand when I had to change a couple of batteries last year.

I almost bought the Yuasa with the same spec, good batteries by all accounts.

It may not be the best, but it's probably the cheapest

Lion 078

I paid £55 for one from ECP a few months ago

More importantly, it is the correct size, it doesn't foul the fibreglass panel, the terminals are the correct way round, and the securing plate fits

Who was it that had a tiny Li-ion battery fitted to save weight?

That's showing as 100quid on ecp, 85 for the Bosch from Tayna.

Am I doing something wrong on ecp? Prices are horrific for me.

The Bosch S5 006 or Varta Silver Dynamic versions of the 078 have a bit more oompth for around £70. Good fit as well...

It's now £65 at ECP with the current discount code, probably would have been less when the month end discount code was available last week
