Headlights not currently working, initially thought it was the control box problem, but all voltages are correct and wires intact.

Thought I'd check the connections from the lights backover which leads me to J21 nose connector. The wiring diagrams states it's location to be passenger footwell but the connector there bares no resemblance to whats described in the wiring diagram.

I've took a photo of my pass footwell - Is that connector on the bottom left J21?

I think the problem may be in multiway 3 (located rear passenger seat?) because both headlights are affected so my search continues.

There are more boxes either further up from those or behind the radio, could be some of them

The plot thickens, I found where the harness splits to LH headlight and RH headlight. Both have 12v!

Looks like its a wheels off and inspect inside the wings next, so bought some drag link bushes, might aswell fix the vibrating brakes while its jacked up.

Thread resurrection!!!

I'm on the hunt for J21 again. Back in 2013, I gave up looking for it and just ran two new wires to the headlights.

Now my front right indicator has stopped working, tested the lamp, tested the supply (nothing) and where does the wiring diagram show as the next connector back - J21 Nose connector.

Obviously, this connector is causing me some grief now and I need to find it's location before something else stops working.

Any clues?

I am also looking for the same thing, the J21 nose connector. Cannot find it in the passenger footwell anywhere. I do find the engine connector. I am following the wiring loom from the inspection hole in front of the lefthand wheel back to the inspection hole for the heater fan behind the lefthand wheel, but no further. My particular problem is the horn not working - the relay clicks and has power, all fuses are good, but no 12V reaching the horns.

Chin up, shouldn't be too difficult as the TVR has to take all its earths with it. (side effect of a fiberglass body).

Remove the fuse from its connectors

Connect an ammeter across the fuse connectors, find out if the current is draining all the time/just when the lights are on/ or only when the wires are wiggled.

Then look at the resistance of the 'lightbulb' side to earth. Likelhood is that you'll see a very low resistance enabling the high current flow.

Further relay 11 is the flasher Unit

Flasher power is Green/yellow from Fuseboard block A (AMP grey 8 Way) pin 85m with an earth at 86m.
Flasher output is lt.green/brown 87m. (you've gotta love audi's numbering system.)

Next is to get grubby. top of the passenger footwell is the Nose connector. Its a nineteen way connector labelled J21.

pin 4 is sidelamps r/h red/white
pin 6 is sidelamps l/h red/white

If all okay then just behind each indicator light is a bulb sandwiched between the wire above and a black for earth.

Chances are that your problems lies on the live side rather than the earth or a simple shorting bulb.

P.S. Brakes lights are fuse 18. indicators and reverse lamps share this fuse.

Have fun smile

The horn button routes through two ribbon cables to a connector on the end of the steering column

Easy to check here as it could be one of the ribbon cables broken. It's the small circuit board with the pins sticking out the plugs push onto

Edit: Checked Fuse 3? Does Horn and Fans on my car

Think he mentioned the horn relay is working/getting fired, and that he has power there.

I take that to mean he has 12vdc going into the common of the relay.

I have the horn working. It must be a bad connection or a broken wire somewhere in the loom, but I could not find the exact location. I traced the loom forwards through the centre console and over the passenger footwell, and backwards through the heater box. And I have yet to find J21.

Perhaps it hasn't got one

Now my R/H dip lamp has stopped working. Same story as the horn that stopped working, there is power in the connector behind the helmet holder (J31/J35), but nothing at the lamp. Something is happening somewhere causing bad connections, the suspicion is the J21 nose connector, which I simply cannot find anywhere I look around the passenger footwell. My car is a 1998 4.5. Any ideas?

I found the starter relay up there, so that may explain that one smile
