That must be quite a rare beast - I've never heard of a Cerbera 430.
Hmmm must have been more tired than I thought but no she is a 93 Chimaera 430 NOT a Cerbera.

It stops being confusing when, despite it being posted in the cerbera forum, the car isn't a cerbera ...

Started to replace heat shielding.

While I'm waiting for the oil and water pumps to be returned I'm going to replace the pas pump, I have this part number QVB101110 but can any one confirm that this is the right one.

Cheers

worth thinking about some extra heat shielding on the chassis where the exhaust runs close. It discoloured the clear waxoil on mine.

Loved getting up to things and seeing what you all do to yours but after altercation with a tree back in Nov. a big pull was for me to not have to be so hands on or OCD the test drive in the flappy paddle version was very nice. One things for sure it can’t touch a cerbera for speed but still made me feel rather nice. Been missing this Banta for a while tbhand gonna miss you all.

Wondered where you'd been Alistair...
So how's the Cerb now? And what are these flappy paddles you mention above attached to? ...don't say you've gone over to the dark side? blah

It’s been a while but at least my iPhone completely censored what I typed!

Dark side you refer to Twinks if Aston M then I’m afraid so... or not as it’s a pretty bright side from where I was sat. wink

Rebuilt rack put back in, suspension torqued up, heat shielding fitted on the sides (just bulkhead left to do). Put back on all 4 wheels for the first time in 12 months or so, and wheeled out for a quick wash to remove the barn find look..

Installed small DRLs.
Had too many other drivers pull out on me, don’t know why but hopefully these give me more road presence during sunlight hours.
Installed with a relay, fused and switched - not linked to the main beam.

It's back from last Saturday but with a couple of silly issues.
Broken rear exhaust rubbers, now fixed, so I didn't want to drive it until that was done. Keeping it to3000 revs is difficult. I'm going to run it up and down the motorway I think as the best way to build up the mileage quickly.
My fresh new paintwork is badly scratched though, wings are really bad, But the bonnet also. I'm hoping it's topcoat and can be detailed out.

I'll admit I fell out of love with it and put it in the garage under a cover until today...

I know what you mean about falling out of love, but trust me, as you get near the end of running in, you'll be smitten again cloud9

I think you'll find a motorway boring as hell and I've heard that constant revs isn't the best idea for running in. I took mine for a few trips over the moors where I could vary the engine loading and had fun too (all under 3k revs and half throttle). Now that I'm over 500 miles, I'm still half throttle but have the occasional 4k revs.

My niggles consisted of a oil pressure switch allowing oil to come up through the electrical connection and my starter motor packing in. That's the second time in 2yrs the WOSP starter had failed so it got binned for a TVR one.

My paint was also very poor afterwards, a full day of washing, clay bar, washing, polishing and waxing soon put it right.

I like the polished oil cap, very nice touch.

Motorway running is the worst idea for running in... Cross country is the one!

I've a brand new starter in it from last year and it's turning over very slowly, much slower than it was. I need to check the battery, I'm wondering if it being left for 6 months has killed it, shame as it was a good red top, only a few years old. It's been on trickle charge for the few days without any difference. Might check the engine earthing also.

Water rails were polished when off the car, as was the aircon pump and the fuel rail repainted then polished. It's looking ok.

Going to take the car into a local detailers tomorrow to get their advice about the paintwork.

Motorway runnings ok for the first few miles, I can vary the pace up and down as it's just about 80 at 3k revs in 5th

Mines gone back again.
I sorted the exhaust rubber hangers only to find a host of electrical issues all caused by the earth cable from the battery rotting. Replaced that but noticed i'm dripping clutch fluid from the bottom of the gearbox, fluid levels are low, so it's gone back for this to be looked into.
The clutch is only 5k miles old. I'm hoping it's something simple

Had a misfire under load for a while now and couldn’t get to the bottom of it.
Played again by simply pushing the ht lead plugs back onto the spark plugs trying to make sure a good connection with the plug - #3 (3rd from front on passenger side) actually felt wobbly! I pulled it off and the metal end was still on the plug with the lead completely separate! Upon removing the boot the crimped end had “eaten” through the lead and severed it! Maybe with the vibration etc but I’m wondering if it had been crimped too hard from the beginning?
Could this be the cause? I trimmed the lead and re fitted/ crimped the same cap (too late to get a new one & a car meet in an hour), refitted the boot and ensured it was attached properly to the plug and WOW what a difference!
The car was so much smoother and pulled way better without a massive bog down below 2k revs. Still a very slight misfire so I’m now presuming another lead is doing the same.
Took her out to the car meet and what a difference one lead makes! 👍
Sometimes it is the little, obvious things that make such a difference! 🤔
