Holy thread revival.

Issue with the window not dropping on the drivers door and the interior light not going off was... dirty plug in the drivers door. So all cleaned again.
I really must swap these plugs out at sometime for better ones...

I was about to bump this thread to say a massive thank you to you, for your excellent advice on removing the steering wheel, for fixing the electrics thumbup

In the last year.

Replaced the power steering hoses
A pleasant enough job (sorry Mr Cerbera!), removed them, got new ones made up by pirtek, then refitted - with no leaks! Only needed to do the pressure one by inspection, but nice to box it off as one whole job. The most annoying bit was the access panel in the driver's arch, a bit of a pig.

Replaced water temp/oil pressure gauge
Quite pleased with this job, as I discovered that you can swap over the TVR face/hands/bezel, onto a brand new (and readily available) gauge - Smiths Classic Oil & Water Gauge (MGB, Midget & Austin Healey Sprite) BHA4900.

Some anxiety with the length of the capillary, but it fits elegantly enough.

Fitted new Gaz Mono suspension with 600/600 springs
Very satisfying to finally justify spending out on new shiny stuff, and for my personal tastes, the stiffer springs have paid off, love it. I Needed helper springs, excellent service from Derek at Absolutely shocks.

Replaced inner throttle cable
Might be the cheapest way of improving how your car feels to drive, thinner, cable with no friction, and polished stainless, so it should last. Easy and satisfying!

Replaced plugs and leads
Part of trying to get the car running right, the plugs were too cold (fitted by a garage unbeknownst to me - I asked them to do oil and filter whilst it was in for work). Fitted NGKs, and 8522 Magnacor leads, which despite being a pig to put on, have always worked great on my car.

Tuned car with RS-AJP
Just so so good this app, will always be grateful to Aide smile

Car was running great after all that, and even passed a fast idle emissions test for it's MOT smile

Set steering wheel straight/toe in with fishing wire and axle stands
Always wanted to learn how to do this, and needed to due to a slightly offset steering wheel. Couple of attempts and car feels great, with a nice straight wheel.

Replace wiper motor and loom connector
Unfinished business as I'm still not happy with the wipers, way too much pressure onto the screen means I'd like to look at different wiper arms. If anyone is interested however, I fitted an Lrw110 motor, with a 140deg sweep arm. Despite not being the "correct" motor, it is readily available, and inexpensive.

Replaced main earth lead
I was a bit mortified by this, my lead had slipped down and caught the manifold. Lucky to discover it before any serious damage, re-routed and cable tied to prevent future happenings.

The todo list on a car like this is infinite imo, and my car is quite tatty, so I will be moving on to improving that soon. It drives beautifully though, like a gt86 on steroids, which is exactly what my target was.

The Throttle cable.

The hardest thing to do.

Jesus!

But, after a couple of times, the part where you have to connect the end of the new cable to the top of the throttle pedal isn't as bad after all.

However, first time round... talk about "the world is going to end Father!" Upside fking down, feet in the air, in the drivers footwell... cursing every that you tried your hardest to love but simply couldn't.. the cable just pops in..

hehe

I was forewarned regarding the throttle cable, only the inner really needs changing, and is cheap and easy smile.

Yesterday I was encouraged to be a hooligan, in the interest of entertainment for a crowd...

The run was very short, stop in the middle, so with no time to grab 2nd, make it backfire etc, I decided to go for smoke

Carried on with my chassis refurbishment, 'body on!'

Clean, scrape sand, rust treat, white smoothrite and clear waxoyl.

No nasty surprises due to leaking diff seal, engine sump gasket and gearbox output shaft seal!!

Surprisingly and with a bit of effort, pretty much all of the chassis is accessible on a 350i without body removal!

Last week I was mostly driving the Cerbera around with out dog on the front seat. When I finally got back, the seatbelt harness wouldn't unclip from the seatbelt.

Right said fred, have to take the seat out... The Stainless nuts, bolts etc I replaced when I had the seats out to refurbish just undid easily

Someone had been there before me, which has to be before I had the car (16 years ago) so took the mechanism apart, released the cip, rebuilt it all and seat back in...
TVR Gods were smiling at me today. Bright light underneath to show the holes, all 4 bolts dropped straight in. TVR Gods smiling on me today. 15 mins to replace the seat...

More of what have I done recently as it was several weeks ago. Along with having already removed the gearbox for thr Tilton upgrade I thought might as well take the engine out and replace the heat shielding and tidy it up a bit

Despite some dodgy fuel pump issues, I took the Cerbera out today, and oh man is it just the most ridiculous and wonderful thing to own!

I feel privileged to have a car like this, it's basically a racing car with a suspect mot! Hilariously, and very much in TVR fashion, I got it home after it ran beautifully, parked up, then went to start it (to move it closer to our wall), and it won't start!

I'm not the greatest with car electrics, but I assume I have a resistance fault somewhere in the fuel pump/immobiliser wiring? The car is stunning when running, but sometimes when trying to start, the relay clicks, then clicks off, no fuel priming.

I thought it was the battery, but a new one hasn't helped.

Love my car smile

Washed and polished my beloved S2 for the final time, before the buyer came this afternoon. It was like waiting for the worst dental appointment ever.

Nearly 26 years in my ownership, and I am heartbroken - been stressed and depressed for several days since agreeing the sale last week, and now close to tears having waved him off. Several times I came close to e-mailing him to say I couldn't go through with it. If you are thinking of selling, don't underestimate the emotional pull which these beautiful cars have on us.
