I've just learned that Str8six has closed their Newark workshop. That's a real shame as I was really impressed with how they turned my Cerb out after a body-off resto and also the servicing they did on the car.

I had a message from Jason advising that they had taken the decision to close. Needless to say, I could still use Str8six (and i'm tempted to) but Oxford is a 260 mile round trip for me and I really don't get too much time off.

So, my questions are: does anyone know if Nick from Newark (formerly Willow Sports Cars before SS took over) is still trading in some guise or other and failing that, contact details for a reputable/reliable TVR service and maintenance facility around North Notts/South Yorkshire areas please.

Anyone know the story behind this ? mine only came out of there a month ago after body off chassis refurb ,they made a brilliant job of it ,nothing was mentioned then.It seems a great shame.

Pure speculation as I have know inside knowledge on this but I think STR8SIX taking it over was a rescue mission to try and speed things up and get the cars turned round fast enough so It could be self sustaining financially.

I would suggest that it didn't work which is a great shame as they were the best at the chassis stuff just very slow.

The workmanship on mine is perfect.

The quality of work turned out was 1st class ,it depends on what is considered as slow ,a good job cannot be rushed. My car was at Str8six for 6 months for body off chassis restoration, engine work and a multitude of other stuff. The chassis was done at Willow and I believe it was there less than 2 months.I feel its a great loss to the TVR community if this is true ?

A fixed price service taking multiple days does not cost in unfortunately.

I have also had the chassis done by them and a brilliant job they have done as well but the time taken and the price charged makes every one a loss leader to get to the more profitable jobs. After all if the cars were all scrapped then they wouldn't need fixing and servicing.
