Evening All,

What are the thoughts on decent ht's for the Cerbera? Are 'genuine TVR' (if such a thing exists)
the way to go, or are there sensible alternatives?

Richard at HHC mentioned the boots on mine were beginning to crack/degrade and it
would be worth doing for next service. Car is now off the road for winter so I have
plenty of time to phaff about/hide from the kids etc.

It came with Magnecour (Red ones so they must be worth at least 50bhp.....biggrin).

Cheers
Sticky.

The magnicor ones have been linked to misfires and bad running for ages.

Some say they can be modified to fit better but why bother when the cheap bog standard leads from Racetech work very well.

What's the chances of fitting pencil coils, has any ever done this?

Probably impractical due to proximity of exhaust manifold and water rail, but most importantly the angle of the 2/3 and 6/7 plugs.

I have just had the same dilemma. Magnecor 8.5mm and misfire. I have new coils, plugs, crank sensor, fuel pump, throttle pots and lambdas, the only thing not replaced was the leads as whilst they are 4 years old they have had little use as I have been rebuilding the car for most of that time. I just ordered a set of standard ones from the parts so i will see if it cures the problem. The only thing left would be a poor connection or break in the wiring harness.

Yeah, thought might be an issue, just a lot of heat and tight spaces there

I have magnecor 8.5 mm red ones on mine. Been ok, but you need to push them on well, which is hard due to the proximity of the exhaust. Had a miss fire at first, but a pair of very long nose plyers sorted them click on properly......Been great since.

Used to change my 'standard' ones every 6K and never had a problem.

Have heard that Magnecor ones short through at the point they're trapped so I have stuck with standard.

That sounds excessive? I changed them on the body off 4 years ago just because everything was getting replaced, but thats the only time in 11 years

Ha Ha ! laugh ...."From little acorns.."

SL, after installing the kit I would very heavily recommend booking your Cerb in to Jools for a synchronisation/balancing/tuning session for the set-up.
(and a 'cool' chip upgrade)

He works wonders thumbup

p.s. 'Claus' can never be mentioned too early when talking about Cerbera presents silly

Bought at 23k, 11 years ago, it's now on just under 60k. Nothing really but work/car improvements have impacted the last 4 years driving, although it's been to europe every year for the last 4 years.

Gone for a check of the engine as compression was slightly low on cylinders 1&2 found when the coils were replaced after a misfire in the heavy rain. Perhaps chasing that McLaren at Spa....

So new standard leads fitted and no more misfires. Phew. The car is pulling like a train and even sounds more angry on tickover.

Quick and fairly easy job, just under an hour, no swearing either!

I'm going to make a short video of me chopping up the st magnecor ones, just because i can. Will never waste money on them again.

New leads fitted today. The 'old'Magnecour didn't actually look all that bad.
I've no idea how long they were on or how many miles they did, but it did
start first attempt after nearly 2 months kip! beer

After some phaffing around, the new TVR ones were on, and started 1st
time.....smokin

Cheers

Anyhoo, this was the most spannering done by me on't Cerebera so far, so it was time to begin fitting
Joolz's whirlwind. Any tips boys and girls? My nearside airbox is sitting very high and I don't want
to force anything. Looks like the offside will be the same. The bonnet is resting on the silicone inlets.

Do they just settle down, or is there trick? I'm talking maybe 1 to 11/2 inches too high.

Cheers
