SP6 Lightened flywheel
Discussion
Progress refitting after stripping out the drivetrain has taken a hit due to work, but now I finally got round to placing a large parts order and its been delivered I'm wondering if I should of ordered a new lightened flywheel?
I've seen some good and bad comments with the RV8's (mostly positive) but not much on the SP6 and more specifically the Cerb...what's the verdict fellas, yay or nay??

Not sure I'd want to do that on and AJP8 though, it must reduce idle smoothness, and would probably lead to embarrassing stalls when pulling away.
Not noticed any significant change in idle quality with lightened fly on AJP. The clutch pack is also a pretty big mass so I think on both applications the flywheel has less effect than it would on lesser cars.Edited by Tanguero on Monday 20th November 14:57

I've a lightened on on my 4.2. Haven't noticed any difference if I'm honest
I stand corrected. The possibility of stalling was something that Honda VTEC owning friends of mine had reported.
Not only that, but the price differential £500 (orig) vs £330 (light) for the AJP8 flywheel means I would probably take a chance on the cheaper flywheel if I needed to replace mine.

I have lightened flywheel on my 4.2. It is more responsive, but you have to use more revs/be better with the clutch pulling away - definitely a risk of an embarrassing stall...
I've not found that with the torque of the engine, same with our diesel, which makes it very embarrassing when I jump into the MX-5 and forget to add revs...Gassing Station | Cerbera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
