How much are 18" RL7's worth nowadays? I know I'm looking for hens teeth but if I was to find a set, how much would I realistically be looking to pay for them?

With so few about it would be difficult to put a value on. At the end of the day its what people are prepared to pay. I have a set of 4 but as they look so nice on the car I would look to keep them with the car. I also have a set of 16" Saturn's which I'm currently having refurbished just so I can have a bit of variety and more comfortable motoring with the more cushioning a 50 profile tyre provides.

In all seriousness, if anyone has any 18” RL7s that they want to sell, please let me know.

Thought these were the ones prone to cracking - maybe better getting some Compomotive MO6s if the RLs are dear.

I bought my 18” RL7s a few years ago, they weren’t cheap and took a few years to find them. Most were replaced by the factory for spiders so there aren’t many left out there.

Hi Steve
I heard this too, from a reliable source selling new Cerbera's the 18 ins ones were prone to cracking, cars were recalled for spider replacements ....hence rare and TBH not sure if I would be happy running them if this is all correct...
I have a set of 17 ins ones in need of refurb, but my 18ins spiders ( Tuscan s rears) are spot on, fitting these 17ins RL7's is down the list of must do stuff....
BUT love the look of the RL7.....
Perhaps a copy of the wheel in 18ins is they way forward?

17" RL7's crack too ,when I had mine refurbished they found one of them had cracked right through the spoke of the wheel and it wasn't repairable. I struggled to find a replacement and when I did it was expensive. Get them checked before fitting them.

Yeah most were recalled and replaced with spiders but from my experience spiders buckle quite easily and you also need to be careful with 17” RL7s as these can crack too. My 18”s came off a car with 70k miles so are hopefully well tested and I keep a close eye on them, I also have a spare set of 18” spiders if the RLs fail.
On a different topic, did you ever finish your Tuscan Challenge car? I think you’d just had it painted last time I saw it at a show and it looked superb, was looking forward to seeing the finished car but haven’t seen it since.

Hi,
On the RL 7 side of things sounds like 17 and 18 ins ones are problematic!
The four 17ins ones I have will sit away in storage until I have run out of other things to do by the look of things, both you and Al say the same....so will can that for now....put about 300 miles on the Cerbera yesterday running like a dream on 18ins spiders ( Tuscan s rears)👍
Those wheels on the Chmaera posted up look like a sensible alternative though👍

Thanks for the positive comments re the Challenge, no haven't stopped doing it, stuck for a wiper motor for the past 5 weeks, the one I have is only single speed, we reckon a single arm one off a wedge will do the trick, but can't locate one....
But been doing things I can light in and working hand brake sorted apart from cable, numbers plates arrived, fog lights in, rear storage area sorted, dash trimmed gauges 50% done ....so getting there need to source seats now ...thanks for asking👍

My chim wheels are RL7s.

The black track set are 17" & 18" and my Road wheels are 17" RL7s all round.

All have been recently thoroughly checked prior to powder coating and all are perfect.

I am still interested in a pair of 18" RL7s to make my road set 17" & 18".

Sadly I don't believe Compomotive can provide the right size & offset MO6's anymore unless there is very significant demand. I tried to buy a set from them about 2 years ago based on the sizes fitted by someone on the Cerb forum (can't remember who now) and as the Cerbs offsets are pretty unusual they said they would need a significant order to cast these sizes again. I seem to remember they took my details with a view that if demand was enough they would contact people but I never heard again.
I couldn't find any other wheels I liked enough to buy them so I'm still running spiders and still getting them fixed when they bend.

Edit: It was Longbow's car, IMHO the best alternative to Spiders or 18" RL7's

I had one crack a few months ago as well, it was right through the full width of the spoke, Alloy Weldcraft in High Wycombe can weld them and are fully insurance certified to weld wheels, one of only a few companies that can do this.

I hit a deep pothole in our poorly maintained Surrey lanes a few days ago. I've put the car on the ramp last night to fit my refurbished starter motor and thought I would check my wheels, ( I still had my track set fitted after doing Snetterton a couple of weeks ago) and lo and behold I discovered a crack on the nearside 18" rear wheel!

Not so much a fault of the wheel as the rest of them are perfect but more a case of having to be super vigilant due to the state of our appalling roads.

What a bd, something I will have to get done sooner than later as I have a track day at Anglesey booked in a few weeks time.

Any recommendations for wheel repairs in the Surrey/South London area?

I have a set of these now. IF I was to sell them, how much would they go for? I'm not sure whether to keep my 17's and sell the 18's or sell the 17's and keep the 18's

I think given how fragile the 18's are I'd keep the 17's as you'll curse yourself when you crack an 18 and can't replace it.
