Barometric take off blocked on purpose?

The n/s airbox on my Cerbera 4.5 has a small black take off, which I believe is for the barometric pressure for the ECU. Mine seemed to be blocked so I took it off.
It has a small red plastic plug in it (you can just see the end of it below) and leads me to believe it has been blocked deliberately. Would there be any reason for this? The engine seems to be running fine so I don't what effect (if any) it has, and what is the consequence of it being blocked:
It could be accidental, from gluing the take off into the airbox with too much stuff.
