Im looking at ways of getting the weight of my cerby down as much as possible, but with the car looking the same. So any good ideas out there? Here is my current list of things to do:

1) replace spiders for Bola B7s (saving of 2-3kg per wheel, so 10-12kg)
2) lightweight flywheel (saving 2-3kg)
3) replace bonnet and boot lid with lighter versions. (saving of upto 18kg)
4) remove a/c (dont want to do this, but can save 18kg?)
5) i've read somewhere about 2 piece discs?

So any other ideas?

Cheers
Steve

Remove rear seats. Passenger seat too if you're super-dedicated.
Stereo and speakers.
Interior lights.
All carpets and mats including inside boot, headlining too.
Electric window motors (glass too??)

Extreme - cut off roof?? The integral roll cage needs to stay of course.

Cut off the excess thread at the back of the pedals. Maybe 100g saving.

Smaller half sizes radio.

Poly windows?

Front seats weigh a lot, having taken them out for a refub
Swap them for lightweight racing tubs?

Empty fuel tank?

Bolas are cheap joke wheels, knock offs of other brands.

Slightly ot but I reckon my Tuscan is very light, playing with other cars including other Tvr it seems to go much better than it should.
I had a go with a 997 turbo and from 20mph upwards it held onto the turbo very well, he didn’t pull and I didn’t gain iykwim.

When I refurberd the car I did
New carpets, slightly thinner and also removed a fair amount of sound deadening, it’s loud anyway hehe
Lightweight flywheel
Rota alloys, about 3kg lighter each.

You’ve also got the possibility the fibreglass she’ll is lighter than the next anyway. By all accounts they were never all equal.
Should get mine weighed really, it feels really light but need to weigh it.

You'll never know until you weigh it. Mine was 4 corner weighed just after I got it on a race team scales and it was around 100kg lighter than some other lardy cars, but around 50kg lighter than the usual claimed weight. It was weighed again just after the chassis refurb/rebuild, when I'd had other upgrades/improvements and I'd shaved another 20kg off. Not through any efforts on my part to do that, just on different weights of the upgrades

I suspect these were:
ACT manifolds replacing the standard cast ones
ACT sports exhaust system, the standard back box weighs a lot
Lightened flywheel when fitting the new clutch

and the car was empty of junk at the time biggrin

I think you will struggle with a road car.

Our Racer has obviously had loads of weight saving measures applied and at the last weigh in we were 997kg.

No inner wings
Single skin bonnet
Single skin boot
Single skin doors
All structural fibre glass removed
No interior at all, just bear fibreglass with a carbon dash.
Carbon fibre wheels (6.2kg) each
Lightweight onlins dampers
Only basic wiring for engine and lights
No heater system (pipe work or blowers)
Full carbon race seat (4.8kg)
Polycarbonate windows all round including windscreen
All interior fibre glass shaping cut away and replaced with flat carbon sheet.

Your race tyres probably add weight over a road car though...?
How's the rebuild coming along, Mike? Any provisional dates for 2019?

I was going to mention Mike but then remembered his car was stripped out and OP said he wanted it to look standard.

The inner door cards weigh a lot as well.

ive heard good reports about bolas, also they have a good weight saving and the correct offsets, which seem hard to find, except for team dynamics (sp12s). I like rota, but again offset issues which result in rubbing on the rear arches,

any suggestions welcome, as i've searched the internet like made.

People running them have no issues..

Try Rota, Bola, XXR, JR, all copies but generally nice and light and seem to stay straight.

Rewire with Thinwall cable of choice, heres one to look at https://www.leoni-automotive-cables.com/en/product...

The Cerbera fusebox and loom can be ripped out and thrown away, fit smaller fuseboxes up-front and also get rid of the standard sized relays and use Micro relays

Install the battery as close as possible to the starter motor, this will save battery cable weight

Yep I do mean structural. Its the heavy stuff! Once you have a full roll cage anything fibreglass is just for aesthetics really.
