What's everybody favourite road tyre these days?

Previous owner (bless him) put Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 (255/35 x 18) on the rear of mine in 2018. Very happy with them.
On a wet roundabout exit when I was over zealous, they broke free slowly and I was able to correct easily. The hydratak diff may have helped (although I've read that when you lose traction, it just goes), but I'd recommend them. Not too savage to buy either.

It depends what your usage is - mine is mostly summer and track.
I'm just about to put AD08s on my Tuscan - I have used them on a bunch of other cars (road and track) and I think they are the best option today for me.
Work well in most weathers (perhaps not extreme wet), grip well, but are progressive when they do let go unlike the TVR recommended Proxes which are pants in comparison.

I ended up ordering the Goodyear ones in the end.
They weren’t much more expensive than the other ones I’d been looking at so it was an easy choice in the end.
€141 each from Oponeo which includes delivery to the place refurbishing the alloys and they’ll fit them as part of the price for the refurb so happy days.

Agree with Goodyear Eagles, mine are fantastic on the rear even thpugh they are an older version. BUT. I had problems sourcing the correct size for the fronts as I have an unususl size 235/40 17. Ended up with Yokohama S-drive and would NOT recommend these in the cold and wet. After a braking upgrade the fronts lock up with the least provocation on the shiny surfaces provided locally. Any ideas? There is the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo (which I think is Korean for ‘hot air’ though it does get good reviews). I would have more choice including matching Goodyears and the Uniroyal Rainsport if I went to 235/45 though I would have to check if the extra inch diameter would fit. Or perhaps a 225/45 - again with a wide choice.

The other option is PS4's come in 245/40 and 255/40 flavours.. I went with NS2-R's or I was going to run the PS4's in those flavours.Just having a search - not many tyres for the front. My local etyres used to get them for me...

Choice of tyres for 235/40 17 is diminishing. Pirelli’s no doubt good but not the best reviews for wet weather. Continental sport contact5’s available but look to set to be replaced by v6 which doesn't come in that size. Goodyears no longer made in that size. So looks to be a choice between Hankooks, or Falken Azenis fk453. Or downsizing to 225’s. come to think of it I’m sure my car when purchased came with overstretched 225/35R18’s on the spider rims. 225/40 17 is actually a good match for the 255/40 size on the rears in terms of rolling circumference.
