Did a quick search on here and they all seem to be the same fitment/caliper on the rear of a Cerb. I fitted new Mintex recently and the squealing is an absolute nonsense. They have been in and out several times with varying amounts of anti-squeal compound. Barry chamfered the edges and tried some sikoflex etc which lasted a short time but the squeal has returned. I should've kept the half-worn ones as they were fine but hindsight etc....

What are people using? Car isn't tracked and I had even thought about the C-L pads maybe all-round as an upgrade unless they are too much for the road? Ferrodo seem to do rears (2500's) but no particular affinity, I just need to stop the bloody squealing!!

Cheers

Forget the spiral springs, fit the anti-rattle plates

Paid RS14 or RS29.

Quiet and serious stopping power that will not fade, easy on disks as well.

Great pads but not cheap, I use the same on the front and must be on my 5th set now having tried most of the other performance pad manufacturers including Mintex 1155's.

At over £500 for a full set front/rear that is a significant running cost

Some people report that cold bite is not great, which not something I ever want to experience in an urban environment

I believe the pads are Elise front pads to help find some.

Which Mintex? I think the old advice was 1144's, which I used to run until I warped disks with them as Castle Coombe, so switched to CL.

Not sure what I'm running now as Str8Six replaced the pads but I have a single squealing rear as well. I still have the CL rear, I may try those.

Did anyone find a source for the split pins other than TVRParts? I think they are 3mm x 100mm?

Thank You All for the replies. The pads are Mintex 1144's which I have used to good effect on other cars in the past so bought them without any concern. I actually fitted brand new anti-rattle plates at the same time and left off the little springs as they were a phaff to fit with the plates. I am tempted to try (as suggested by Barry) removing the plates and trying the springs on their own as that is the only combination not yet used. Personally i think its the actual pads as the previous ones (make unknown) were silent and there were no plates fitted, just springs.

The Pagids sound a bit expensive and I would like a good balance of working reasonably from cold. Am I correct in thinking Brummie's name is Paul Chance? That's the name on the CL website and I seem to recall seeing it on here somewhere.

I am also going to check for pins as mine are getting a bit iffy with all the removal/refitting and will come back if I find anything.

I also use CRC Brake Quiet spray

It is not a lubricant, it is a tacky adhesive that goes on the back of the pad, stopping it vibrating against the piston

Paul, cold bite is brilliant which I why I have used them for so long, simply the best pad I have used.

Last well and kind on disks so while the initial purchase price is high they only need changing every couple of years, I get a comfortable 20k plus miles and 10 track days out of a set.

You only live down the road from me, why don't we meet up and you can try for yourself.

4.99 for 10 though and as I have 8 fitted, 2 on each caliper, thats not a bad price. Almost worth buying 20 for just over £8

You sure? I have an early 4.2 with 4 pots and 291mm disks. Pretty sure they has split pins as well.

Always thought Cerbera rear pads were old style Mini front pads ?
Mintex are too hard for road use ,I had them on the front of my Cerb ,squealed like a pig and warped my front discs.
I would recommend EBC Red Stuff for road use .

1144's were fine for mine on the road, the issues I had was doing track days. They overheated, lost braking and warped the front disks.
The CL pads I had seemed very clean, limited dust but great at stopping.

I found the CL pads really noisy hence why I moved to Pagid.

Can I ask your source for the Pagid? European Car Parts didn't have them listed. Ta
