Only place that has been tricky to deal with is the dipstick olive, even with a new one the dipstick itself can be deformed such that the olive doesn't seal

Also the temptation to over-tighten it with a 22mm (or whatever) spanner risks stripping the thread in the sump

I have also had a leak develop from the front timing cover, because I failed to torque all the fixings properly

The crank real oil seal is supposed to be vulnerable, but I've only just replaced the 22 year old seal on mine and that was preventative

The PO had put sealant around the jackshaft oil seal, perhaps that is an issue?

The oil cooler can leak with age, that resulted in missing the TVR Zolder event one year

Lastly, one time the oil pressure gauge sprung a leak, thankfully not so bad I couldn't drive home from Germany

So basically, if there is oil, it can leak

The engine has no traditional gaskets, so without trying to be obtuse, it will leak from everywhere unless everything is flat and suitably torqued. I've been lucky with mine in that after nipping up the timing cover it has no leaks, but believe i'm in the minority.

Actually it's quite forgiving if you use some decent sealant like Loctite 5980

The heads on mine were skimmed so crudely once that there is a 0.7mm step between the level of the head and the timing cover

Yet the cam cover will still seal effectively

They don't leak, it's a self rust preventative measure.

I didn't know it no gaskets....at all !

And yes it has been an engine bay rust prevention measure........but once mixed with general dirt its not nice at all. frown

Rear crank seal leaked on mine before it was rebuilt.

Camshaft covers can leak as there's no gaskets so it's just sealant,so if you touch it as you put it back on a lead etc, then that can cause a leak. I know this because an indy that used to be at Silverstone decided it was my camshaft timing that was causing his exhaust system to be noisy, rather than the poor fit & build quality and caused this issue, but left it. It's amazing how much oil collects in the V to be flung around the engine bay...
