Congratulations. That looks lovely.

Was in the UK last week and a good friend let me have a long-drive in his recently acquired 996.2 GT3. Reminded me (not that I had really forgotten!), what brilliant cars GT3s are.

Enjoy.

A decade old car, and this you are worried about?

jeez, you need to lighten up. If you want a perfect car, all shiny all the way through, buy brand new. If you can't afford brand new, accept that it won't look brand new, all the way through.

Who the hell thinks they can buy a non restored 10 year old car and expect it to be perfect?
My standard exhaust is looking pretty decent for 11 years old, but as ppl have mentioned this could have been stored well in a dry garage (not getting rusty) when another sports exhaust has been on, so its really hard to gauge the car from exhaust, although when i seen the condition on mine when buying the car, i felt it was a good start smile

Ahhh. a 360 in TDF blue. Nice. My exhaust/car is only 8 years old and the engine and exhaust are a bit shinier than that but only just.

Selling it back to the dealer tomorrow (well, today now). Could not be bothered with tyre kickers and timewasters.

Permit me a gratuitous car pic - it's a sad night. weeping

To revive the dead, I have just seen a car that I viewed turn up again with a dealer. A call to the dealer confirms it is "mint" and they don't do test drives but I can come and see it. I reckon a visit would reveal it's pretty much the same as pictures online look the same + a little tlc.

They'd have to had spent a lot of money to get that particular car into mint condition...

What a load of bks spoken on here. First if i was told a car was in perfect condition thats what i would expect to find. When i sell my cars which is always quickly as they are in tip top condition as i have told the buyers. Seems some things do not worry most people, so they have either money to throw away or they are not as fussy as some of us. simple.

Like I said, I couldn't quite believe I needed to defend myself, but ended up having to!

Anyway, bygones. Just thought I'd let anyone who read it know that one of the "perfect" cars I saw, clearly never sold and is still knocking about with a dealer in the end...

To the OP well done for posting and highlighting what you came across, it surely has to be a help to those thinking of buying a 360. I have the expectations in my minds eye of what to expect to see if something is described as mint, and yes its very often not. The thing that saddens me most is the almost vitriolic response by some of the people responding, I cannot help but feel that this forum has a very nasty feel about it or at least the way some people respond, I would not want to share company with them, anyway your new Porsche looks fab,, FWIW this will be my final post on pistonheads.ENJOY, Mike

I would not buy a Ferrari privately, I would use one of 5 or so sound dealers and wait until they had the desired car.

This is a recurring problem. The advertiser describes the car as he/she sees it. That includes dealers. I looked at a Maser 4200 and the tyres were about 8 years old! He maintained that they had "loads of tread", ignoring the loads of age cracks....
Some people take offence at being told their p&j is not so wonderfull.

With older cars I find the descriptions are much the same for private or dealers for innacuracies.

Don't forget btw, that a dealer has to pay vat on his gross margin. So a margin of £5K means a vat liabilty of £833...

Not sure why I am posting (perhaps a case of sour grapes), other than to share what I came across to perhaps warn prospective buyers that a number of the current cars on the market are pretty poor - some have been around for months.

Some have been around for months!

In this market you should not judge a car by the amount of time it has been available. I just sold my 2003, 28,000 mile black with crema 360 spider after 6 months in January. It was a well cared for car when i bought it 3 years ago, and i spent £12,000 in 3 years on services, tyres, cambelt, suspension bushes, front bonnet/bumper respray to correct stone chips and more. I would describe it as very nice condition. of course it had patina, but that is part of the charm no? there were no dents or scratches, but the windows didnt sit well in the roof lining ( show me a spider that does) the exhaust was bronzed more than silver and the armourfend around the rear wheel arches was not perfect. It went to a friend in the end, who knew how well it was cared for.
If anything, the longer period of time it is on the market, the more bargaining power you have, so younshould use it as a positive rather than a negative
