I like it. Doesn't remind me of the MR2 copies at all to be honest. More like a hardcore track car.

I think it would actually help it to have 80's style "Koenig" side stickers or sun visor? I normally like debadged cars but that thing needs a bit of branding.

Similar spec, with a sun visor...

Slightly better? Needs a Koenig Specials sticker on the side in front of the wheel arch. Embrace the nutty.

That being said I really like it, but mainly because I used to love reading about the nutty Koenig's back in the day. To the average man in the street though, without branding it will look like a kit car.

Other than perhaps the engine work I struggle to see this as an improvement. Very much an acquired taste when viewed from the front, even more so when viewed from the back.

In terms of price it is more than a pristine 348, ok it has 355 performance but is almost as much money as a 355.

Think it all depends on what age you were when these things came out. I would have been 17. Which is probably why I like it. smile

dont forget with Turbos its pushing 500HP so i would assume in a straight line it will be significantly faster than a 355

Im half tempted to believe that this must be a Jap import as the Japs loved modified cars and I think quite a few Koenigs went over there.

Oddly enough, I quite like it in an OTT way.

Even more oddly enough, I was planning to head up there next weekend to look at their 4200.

Hopefully the wife will hate it.

Wow!!

Now that is the best value bit of the 90's ive seen.

In the flesh i bet its awesome and not MR2 like at all.

and here is the only other uk car...

That would look amazing next to some other f cars.

Surely it will be heading into a collection very shortly.

edit.

Just spoken to dealer and the car has no history but has been known by the dealer for over 10 years and for the last 3 has been owned by their technician.

Stood for many years and was recommissioned by them 8 years ago inc a full repaint.

Interior needs tidying and a little bit of your chosen specialists TLC for a grand or two and you're Koenig'd up smile

I am very tempted smilesmile

I was 22 when this car was new and remember the whole Koenig thing very well.

I would be tempted to just bin the interior and go for Red buckets stack dash and a cage.

That was up for £49k when I was in the market for a 348 (it still is on car and classic). I'd have looked at it at the price they now want but I suspect my conclusion would have been it needed to be priced at the same level as a decent 348 for me to have parted with the cash. In 355 money I'd buy a 355. Having said that if it looked like a 348 still on the outside then I would have had no problem in buying it at the price they now want for it. The Koenig back end looks like an after thought.

Agreed. I remember when the Car Magazines used to always be full of these sort of conversion stories to different cars (mainly BMW and Porsche I recall) and I used to like anything that made a Ferrari look more "outlandish" and Lambo-like.

Unfortunately in retrospect it looks a bit tacky IMHO

I'd love to see some scans of the Koenig Testarossa article from 1985 in Performance Car, that photo on the front was so memorable, made an impression on me as a youngster. Not sure how cool that car is now but back then it was the ultimate.

It looks like an MR2 converted to look like an F40.

This was exactly my initial thought...Maybe because Koenig conversion does not mean anything to me

I would rather take F355 for this money...this one is overpriced by £7-8k at least, even for someone who truly appreciates Koenig (not me though, I think standard 348 looks much better)

So it should of lost £173K but the seller thinks its only lost £165K. OK, got it. smile

Surely it is only worth what the next owner is willing to pay for it?

How can you quantify it should be 7-8K less when there is nothing else like it on the market?
