thought I'd push this thread to the front again.

Traxx have you made any progress on getting a 458 on the road in the UK? I might look into this again during winter (if funds allow). Still can't let go of the idea ….

Edit: If you don't mind, would you post up who you spoke to about it at the time.

One more question - any chance they thought a car with aero kit could get registered or only without (or at least without splitter)?

nobody seems to care about this much ... I am clearly a bit crazy

anyway, for other people who find this thread via a search in the future, currently there is a 458 Challenge with the Evo kit and a German road registration for sale - so it is definitely possible (and if you manage to do it in Germany then the UK should be a piece of cake)

I did ask the question once on a 430 Challenge that was selling for 70k, and was told Ferrari would not allow it, additionally the road ride would be too harsh.

The CS with sports cats, is just as insane, and louder. cool

No idea, perhaps they keep a record of the Challenge cars.

Yes likely quite harsh, but as a track car i’d like to have the full cage for safety (and the aero / relatively speaking lower weight would be nice too). Live in germany, so roads are reasonably smooth... I don’t want to trailer the car everywhere as doing 100s of km in an SUV with a trailer is rather annoying I imagine (and be allowed on road car only track days).

Given they allow road registered FXX cars, I suspect they don’t care
What will be interesting though is if they allow me on Ferrari track days for road cars as it is not a “not modified” Ferrari
Until then, this weekend Brno event in the Scuderia - should be good fun

It's not going to be a pleasant drive on the road. Noise, comfort, lack of A/C it will be fun for all of 5 minutes.

Think James May in that Yellow Aston Martin GT car. That will be you smile

I think it has AC, but generally agree - probably not the most pleasant drive. I am quite happy to deal with harsh ride and no radio (not like I can hear it even in the Scud anyway) though if in exchange I don’t have to buy and drive a SUV plus trailer combo to get to the track and can go on road car only track days
I will keep the thread updated if I ever find the money for one
Alternative would be a 996 GT3 Cup - a lot more realisitc price wise

Price will be a lot cheaper but you still end up with the same problem. It will be terrible on the road. Mind you if you get any cup/challenge car and drive it on the road you'll be instant hero in my eyes smile

Honestly, I don't think it's that bad for a treat.
Don't drive it every day and wear ear plugs.
Air con isn't a necessity either imho.

Yeah is is really more for going to the track and back with the occasional mountain road thrown in
More worried about navigating to my flat in the city center with lack of ground clearance and crappy turning circle
Never been one for comfort in cars ...

I will do my best to hopefully achieve hero status for the start of the season next April ...

Until then best I can do to elevate my status is FF in the snow with snowboard rack on the roof

Need to check if allowed to wear a helmet (open face maybe) on the road - that would alleviate the noise issue and save head from impact on roll cage

You're allowed for sure. Would be dangerous to drive caged car without imho.

Good luck, it'll be great!

from a quick google seems like a bit of a grey area in Germany - not explicitly forbidden (at least not in the past) but not exactly encouraged either - something to do with proof of driver when getting flashed
will deal with it if I ever get a car

and I agree without helmet kinda dangerous - I guess unless you strap yourself in so tightly that you can never actually get to the cage, which has other issues in terms of visibility
