I've just been on the FOC website and noticed the Ferrari Challenge is at Donnington on Sunday 1st September.

It's been billed as the "Italian Festival" so I'm hoping there should be a few things on - I've never been before so I don't know what to expect. Any ideas?

Is anybody planning on going to this event?
Cheers,
Jay.

Jay- well spotted! Just had a look www.ferrariownersclub.co.uk/happenings/2002/august/donington.asp gives the prov. timetable for the day. I might go to this, assuming EuroBOSS are the ex-F1 cars. They have a Ferrari F1 demo session too. Off to Italy the next day to tour the factory so this would get me in the mood quite nicely....

Here's hoping for a fine dry day hey

Seems like there's a few things going on during the day, so it should be a good day out.

Kevin: Sounds like the perfect start to your trip. If you decide to go along, which car you planning on taking? I'd love to take a look at the 360. Nudge nudge wink wink

Is anyone planning meeting up at the event?
Cheers,
Jay.

OK- had a word with the Entertainments Director, aka missus, and we're on . Only been to Donnington once before and that was years ago so I've no idea about the parking or where best to meet up. We should meet up though! I'll bring the 360 (OK Jason?!) and if there's Ferrari parking then we have the meeting point; if not, then it'll need to be elsewhere at a specific time.

Presuming that most people travel to Donington via the M1 if we can agree on a time the service station accessable from junctions 23A & 24 is an idea then we can all burble into Donington together, and make a judgement were to park when we get there, currently like parking at Redgate, as you can see a good portion of track from the car, but last week ventured up one of the mounds next to the dunlop bridge and thats a top view but a bit dodgy getting up or down if it rains

Kev, Glad the "Entertainment Director" () aggreed. Just need to clear things with mine now - shouldn't be a problem though.

I really appreciate you taking the 360. I class it as one of my all time favorite cars, and it will make a nice change to be able to see one up close and personal instead of in a magazine or through a window. Thanks again

How do we go about arranging meeting times, places etc?

Oh, I think we can do a *bit* better than that! Raceboy had a good idea in meeting up at a service station somewhere on the M1. On my map, the closest motorway services is Leicester Forest East on the outskirts of Leicester. Would work for me of course, but out of the way for anyone coming from another point of the compass.

Nev, being local, may be able to suggest an alternative, easy to find place closer to Donington. This could some location on/just off the A453? What I have in mind is for those who want to go for a hoonette meet up say 30-40 mins before those wanting to rendevous leave for the circuit. Need some local knowledge to make this work, though there look to be some pretty tiny villages nearby that it should be easy to spot one another in (famous last words etc.)

Theres a service station on the A42 which you can access from junction 23A or 24 of the M1 so it's ok if you are coming north or south,

Brilliant! Should work for everyone who wants to meet up before going in. I'm easy on timing.

How about 11.30 @ the services, it's about 5 minutes to the circuit, same again to pay up, and get parked, grab a bite to eat in time for EuroBoss qualifying

Kevin - 10:30 is fine mate.

I'd have been there at 7:00am if you'd have wanted. It's not everyday you get an offer to take a spin in a Ferrari is it

I'd better bring a bib and a packet of kleanex - wouldn't want to ruin the leather by drooling all over it.

Thanks again Kev for making a dream come true.
Roll-on 1st September.

Cheers,
Jay

Sorry for not replying .... I was off on holiday yesterday, enjoying the sun, sat around in the garden .... and now I'm back at work .... {sigh}

Yup, raceboy is right. I think it's a Granada services (fairly new). Coming North you can get off at j23a, of if you miss it, j24 (they're only a mile apart). Coming south you want j24.

Looking forward to it as well Jason, and a bit of bog roll might come in handy , not that I'm a test pilot or anything.
