transmission tunnel flags

hi guys,

can anyone enlighten me (so far not an owner of one of modena's fine products but living oin hope!) as to the significance of the crossed flags on the transmission tunnel of ferraris? have seen many times and always wondered.

I recall reading that the two flags are those of Ferrari & Pininfarina, the crossed flags representing the partnership between the two. Interesting though that the Pininfarina flag has a stylised 'f'- hangover from when Pinin and Farina were two separate companies I suppose.

I am very sorry to do this to a good friend of mine but im afraid im going to have to reveal the true identity of Mr 'C8 UFO.'

Mr C8 UFO is known outside the world of PH as Richard (or at least thats when we are being polite and he is in earshot....) Rich doesn't own the cherished plate to which you are referring. He, like myself would dearly love to own one of ferrari's finest or a prize slice of German turbocharged muscle but unfortunately we haven't quite got there..... yet!

We were talking about the significance of the flags last night. We realised that we had absolutely no idea what they stood for, so we thought where better to ask than here.....

Rich, sorry for blowing your cover, but I just couldn't sit here and watch these people think that maybe, just maybe, you had a 408Bhp black bullet in your garage. You know it will happen soon!!!

Furthermore, I would like to throw a spanner in the works. I may be wrong on this (it has been known!) but is it not the case the the prancing horse on the ferrari emblem is the same horse found on the porsche emblem AND that it was first found on the porsche emblem and .... dare i say it .... copied by ferrari?

Or am i talking out of my a*se?!
