Can someone suggest some decent insurers, I want to leave my no claims on my 911 so it may be tricky getting a non stratospheric price.
Speak to Cheam Insurance Brokers, they have negotiated several policies for me with Norwich Union, allowing me to apply my full NCD on all policies.

Got up at 6.30 as i was too excited.

The car is a dream!!!

One thing I have already noticed is the friendly way the car is greeted by almost everyone. My Porca isnt so warmly cheered.

Hows the car going now Rich...still over the moon with it!?

Steve,

the car is great.

Not having a garage is a pain as i have to kep taking the cover off. Left it off last night and the car was covered in condensation today, I had to mop it up before i left for work.

Driving wise its great, very different in feel from my 996tt. The clutch is harder but i really like the roughness of it if that makes sense, a no compromise no nonsense experience with 2 fingers up at modern ergonomics. When i get in the porca after driving the rari it feels i have entered a Limo its so comfy in comparison.

Its very very thirsty as well.

Rich

GTman I am sorted for insurance now thanks.

That's contrary to my experience. Dealers are going to make say ~£5K on each SOR car, so it's not like they need to sell it for a certain price to retain their margin. They'll just go back to the seller and ask them if they're prepared to accept the price. I managed to knock a good £5K off the windscreen price recently this way.

I know they do go back to the owner but maybe they feel like it they should be getting more money for it? Just that when I tried to buy from Maranello's, it was so obvious which ones were on SOR. Funny thing is the car they didn't want to sell me for £63K is now up for sale at £60K sticker price! Shame on them. And they lied about it not being on SOR.

Ninja,

I would assume most Porsche and Ferrari buyers were highly likely to become repeat customers if treated well. I can never understand how bad customer service or outright lies can help a business. My dealer I feel has treated me great, and I would really congratulate them. Even though I know that their moivation is the cash at the end of the day.

Dealers should be in general more honest, I know thats unlikely as a cold spell in a certain place but honesty has a huge impression on my buying habits.

Rich,

Graypaul are a great dealership. The guy I dealt with was a really nice guy and he was straight up honest about everything. He searched for over a month to find me a suitable yellow spider. Very nice bunch of guys and IMO very honest too!

Guys,

I came home from work yesterday and found that my front door was damaged. To cut a long story short it seems that some scroat has tried to break in and make off with my keys.

What i need is suggestions of dogs danglies security systems that i can install to give me some peace of mind.

Cheers

Car security is a subject overlooked by many many people. I've known people to spend 10's of thousands of pounds buying their pride and joy only to spend £10 on some Halfords-own security system.

If I were you Rich I'd go ALL OUT to protect your cars:
1. Top of the range Alarm & Immobiliser
2. Tracker System
3. Disklock
4. Wheel Clamp

If they get passed that little lot, then their welcome to it.

It's a shame we have to take these kind of measures to prevent the Fers from stealing our cars - but it's a sad fact of life I'm afraid.

Did you hear in the news recently about the guy from Manchester who was killed trying to prevent a group of thieves making off in his Mondeo - What the

I take it you mean the keys to the 355? Thats one of the reasons I don't like the idea of leaving the car outside. In my area two houses have already been attacked, with one guy actually being knifed in the process. Know both of them and one of them said they basically woke up to find all the family's cars (6 cars: Audi TT, 2 BMW X5's and Mercs) all gone. Same thing happened to the other guy but he woke to find them in the house and was stabbed as a result. Nothing life threatening, but bad enough!

There was a discussion on this a while ago on one of the forums. There were only two sensible solutions (although the non-sensible ones were often funnier!).

1) Satellite tracking. This can be activated even if they nick your keys and turn the system 'off' with the keyfob.

2) Clifford Blackjax anti hi-jack system. A thief can take the car, but without the right PIN it cuts the car and sounds the alarm after half a mile. i.e. when they can't hurt you.

Satellite tracking (not traditional Tracker, which uses radio) costs from about 500 quid fitted. Clifford Blackjax is less. Probably get a deal getting both fitted together.

Rich - unlucky mate - FKING BASTARDS!!!!
Take your pick of home security systems - all of which MUST have 24hr security monitoring. We've go the BT home alarm system.

Have you got a cover for the F355 (and indeed the 996TT)? If not - buy them and cover the cars up sharpish. Sitting in the drive (IF they're sitting in the drive) they're just attracting unwanted attention.....

Good grief- do you mean they demolished part of your house to get in? There is a lot of kit out there for protecting your home, and if you go the whole hog you end up living in a fortress. However, a few internal/external motion sensors, vibration sensors & electric eyes etc. will cover most eventualities. You can have your alarms connected straight through to the local police station. The only false alarm I've had is when a pigeon flew down the chimney.

Oh, and did you know that the local police have a priority list? Any call relating to your house is treated as a priority if you are 'at risk'. Your security company should be able to help you with all of this. And I *would* bother if I were you. If they didn't get all they could they may be back. Sorry to be a downer, but my honest view is get something sorted pronto.

Can't help on the plate thing but it is probably worth putting a post in the 'general gassing' section with a brief story - I am pretty sure there is a copper who frequents it..

Regarding the security, get a Clifford Concept 600 or Avantguard - If you are up north I advise www.sqplus.com and down south www.Prestige-Audio.co.uk - I have had excellent dealings with both in the past and will never go anywhere else

If you have a good reason, the DVLA will give you the name and adress of the owner for a small fee. Maybe say that you saw it in a car park drive off, but the drive left his briefcase next to it as he was on the phone at the time. As you've seen the car around locally, you want to get in touch with them and give it back.
