Seen a nice R8 V10 with 25k miles on the clock - good spec, good colour combo and manual box - it's up for 60k.

What are people's guesses on what it's likely value will be in 3 years (With another 10k on the clock)?

It will be a toy hence depreciation is important to me, the running costs I can stomach!

Convinced my old man to buy one of these recently (black v10 spyder with grey leather, manual 34k miles and only a 2 owner car) paid £61,350.
However it had just had new clutch and flywheel, new front disks and pads, two new rear tyres, and a new rear window mechanism, all added up to around 7k spent within the last 2000 miles. Car is almost like new. He was concerned about depreciation and I have said I will buy it off him in 2 years for minimum of 55k if he wants to get rid of it as I have used it several times and have been impressed with it.
To me its a more subtle/reserved lp560 spyder with a 40k discount at current prices.
The car is well worth the extra over a v8 version. If you get a good one of these in desirable spec, at this price point its a no brainer.
As above though, parts/servicing can add up for the bigger jobs.

Got mine recently and went through the same exercise.
Figured a manual mid engined v10 is the end of an era and did not see prices dropping any further. Plus new R8 is pretty fugly compared so that helps.

Other thing to be aware of is the magnetic suspension/dampers will likely fail at some point so budget for that

I paid £62K for my 2010 25K miles V10 coupe about six months ago. Current prices would seem to suggest that similar ones are still going for about the same price. I'm anticipating a drop to around low 50's over the next few years but will be very surprised and dissapointed if it goes any lower.

Woah and everyone says Italian cars are expensive to maintain!

I agree, I can't see them going lower than mid to low 50's, dependent on condition. If the V8 model is staying in the 40's for a good example, the V10 will never drop below that.

C&p from r8talk:

At present there are 3083 registered R8s in the UK of which 44% are manual.

1334 V8 coupes of which 65% manual.

185 V8 Spyders of which 38% manual.

951 V10 Coupes of which 24% manual.

502 V10 Spyders of which 32% manual.

(the numbers dont add up to 3083 becasue there are a few LMX and GT models which I didn't know what they were...)

Wow, as many as that. I know Audi are moving towards a volume manufacturer but that number of R8's seems an awful lot just for the UK

They'll just make as many as they can sell, no?

They made about 20,000 worldwide of the Gen1 model, which is pretty low compared to the 911 which was the market they were aiming at. They are a lot more bespoke than a 911 (in terms of build and man hours).

I reckon v10 manuals will hold their value well; last of the breed and all that.

They've not really depreciated for the last 3/4 years at the lower end of the V10 market, so no reason for that not to continue

If your budget will stretch it would be worth looking for an R8 Plus. The extra power, ceramic brakes and end of an era vibe have got to make it a safe bet.

And so much more expensive!

I test drove a v10 today and I must say it was so much better than the 991 c2s I have at the moment. I'll be buying one shortly, it's an epic car

You won't regret it. The R8 is much more of an occasion than a Porsche but stil practical enough to use as a daily if desired. My own personal experience so far has also been that general response is much more positive than it was when I had a Porsche.
