Essential, imo, to also visit the Ristorante Cavallino pretty well adjacent to the Ferrari factory.

Full of pics and passion and, when I was there a few years ago, full of Ferrari people,
Ah yes, that's where I ate too - you can spend a lot of time looking at the pictures, the history. And its quite pleasant as a lunchtime stop for eating too!

I don't think you will be disappointed with a visit to any of them.

My order of preference for what it's worth, was Enzo museum in Modena, Lamborghini Sant' Agata ( I agree with the comments on the factory tour guides lovely girls), Ferrari museum Maranello.

Montana restaurant, at the N tip of the Fiorano circuit, is where the Ferrari bosses/drivers eat. Fantastic food and wine, but away from the main town and hotels so driving/taxi are the only real options

I had a lovely meal there while on one of the Pilota courses. Great food and the ambience is amazing. Only there will you find memorabilia on the walls of the quality and heritage involved. We had dinner with one of the instructors at each table. We all tucked into great pasta and I think he had what looked like a bowl of stewed vegetables. Too many carbs in the pasta

Another excellent call. Jean-Eric Vergne was sat eating on his own in there when we visited. It is walkable though - only ten minutes from the factory gates.

The Cavallino is where Enzo used to lunch. Try both if the chance arises and DO book.

Another one to add to the list is the recently moved Ferrucio Lamborghini Museum in Funo di Argelato
Its one that used to be in Dosso, but now with more space and more exhibits, tells a lot more about his early life and other activities.

Just returned from a visit last week. Visited both Ferrari and the Lamborghini one at the Factory. Stayed in Maranello the night before at the Maranello Palace Hotel. Would recommend the hotel especially staying in one of the suites that are reasonably priced. We ate at the Montano Restuarant which we we had pre booked but last Wednesday night it was really dead so a reservation was not needed. The prices have really gone up there from my last visit a couple of years ago which may explain why it was so quiet. Not very good value apart from seeing all the photos and memorabilia.
Both Ferrari musuems are really good. I personally really liked the car display at the Modena musuem with the surround screen film of Ferrari through the ages accompanied by the relevant music from the era. Each car on display mentioned the celebs who had bought a similar car at the time.
The Lamborhini musuem I have mixed views on. As a musuem of Lamborghini it is rather poor and not a patch on either Ferrari musuem. Also there is no parking for the musuem you are just told to find somewhere to park in the industrial estate opposite. What used to be the car park has become a managers carpark full of company Audis. Obvious where Lamborghini's priorities lay!
However if you are a Senna fan then it is definitatly worth a visit. There is currently a Senna exhibition on which has all his cars from his first kart all the way through to the final William. Loads of memorabilia and the Senna movie is on continous loop. This exhibition is the main reason I went and was well worth it.

Recently did the trip myself. Drove all the way down in my F430.

The obligatory shot of my car outside it's birthplace

The Enzo museum in Modena is great

Did some research into the next family car at the Lamborghini museum

They have some crazy looking cars in there

Thanks for all your advise guys, much appreciated. As it was we ended up arriving late in Bologna and I didn't managed to visit any of the museums.

I'm guess this has been shown a 100 times before but quite a different airport run around car.

They seem to have one - in various guises - running around the airport at all times. Nice job to have at the airport - "just testing the runway...again..."
