Hoping this does actually appear in the not too distant future, and would very much look forward to reading the road tests on it

potentially a real game changer, also I think a very pretty car indeed....

Looks good. 200k is a lot but by the time they deliver them in 2020 I might not be able to drive into the city center anymore, so this will look like a potentially attractive option

stats are pretty amazing, bending physics, can they make a tyre to cope with the levels of performance they mention?battery with that kind of range, thought that was still miles away?...don't really put much faith in Elon's presentations though..fastest selling car in history, the tesla 3, millions if not billions taken in deposits in 2013, still struggling to deliver them /make the batteries fast enough..space X is cracking on/new semi truck announced with again amazing stats, and this roadster...
all very exicting, but its almost like seeing concept cars, you wonder how long away, will it ever get made etc...Tesla still losing shed loads on money, the 3 was the one to put them into profit..but not getting them out yet..maybe Mr Mush should focus a little on the 3 and get some money in, is this all publicity to try and raise more funds from investors etc?
will be watching it all unfold with great interest

Boom ! is probably not the right word given you wont hear the thing coming.
Its going to be the future but can't say I'm terribly excited about EV and self driving cars. Its going to be just like all the sci fi films where life is boring

Long live the normally aspirated engine like the V10 Huracan Performante. The noise that thing makes will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and be far more exciting than some superfast milk float

A 'super fast milk float' would make an excellent daily driver, saving your N/A petrol engined classics for the weekend as their value steadily increases.

I'm very excited by this car but I'm not brave enough to part with a deposit at this stage. Let's see how model 3 production goes first.

The thing is there all st TBH.

Friend dropped me off over the weekend in his 3 month old model X. We got in the car and it claimed 40 miles range. After 9 miles of very very light driving and the range claims 11 miles left.

I was actually concerned that he wouldn't make it home - He's almost at the point of taking it back to Tesla and getting them to prove its range of 350 miles as he struggles to get 200.

Not what you expect from £165k's worth of car.

I had a Model S P90D and that would do its quoted range, if you drove it economically. That means minimal heating/AC and driving at 60mph on the motorway. Otherwise you don't have a chance.

Yes, Tesla is losing billions in free cashflow. Production is months / years behind schedule. Cars are being handbuilt on the line because factory robots are not ready. Profits are years and years away. The Roadster is just another pump from Musk to keep funds rolling in for a few more years.

Are Model X’s really worth £165k? If so, then the new roadster seems like a bargain at $200k?!

Check Tesla's position in this What Car? reliability survey - a mighty 30th place out of 32.

The Tesla Roadster is slower to 100mph than the Ariel Hipercar (due in 2019), so it's not as quick as Tesla claims.

Tesla UK is asking for a full ~£189k in cash wired within ~10 days to order a Roadster. Absolutely nothing to do with cashflow, you understand.

The auto express article states a deposit of £34k for the New Tesla. Where did you get £189k as a deposit from?
