No but it's rare to find a car with great spec where they didn't option mag ride. Tends to be in poverty spec cars from what I saw.

Ando so it goes on. Just got an email from the Audi finance guy who has revised the figures on the alternative car despite me telling the sales guy at lunch time the deal was off! Left arm right arm!! Does anyone think I have any mileage in complaining on this as been treated very poor or just let it ride and move on??
IMHO, you shouldn't be wasting your time on small things like this. Car sales people can stereo typically be the scum of the earth but in reality there are some good ones and bad ones. Will you care about who is at lunch when driving your R8? If you will, slap yourself and focus on the bigger picture i.e. driving a great car!! biggrin

As such, a dealer cock up/giving you the run around could be viewed as an opportunity to get something in return which will help you in your ultimate goal. You could phone the dealer, ask to speak to the manager in a really polite manner, explain you had your heart set on your dream car, you paid a deposit, they then pulled the rug on it and now his sales team are giving you the run around. Then explain how disappointed you are with the service, it's been a really bad buying experience so far and is there anything he can do about it?

He'll either go "no" or he may offer you further discounts on something? Ultimately you need to play it buy ear but if you do bin them, concentrate on the right deal for the car, rising above (within reason) crappy salesman.

Just to clarify, it's standard on a V10 but optional on the V8.

[Agreed im all about opportunity exactly what i have tried with some small success its been educational i know how business works but find it a little amusing and naturally will use maximum leverage as the wounded customer if I can itote=PompeyReece]

Oddly the white car I was going to buy (before they noticed it had been driven around the world 8 times and used as a delivery van) V10 2013 did not have Mag ride?? Or atleast the button for it near the gear control was blank !!

My 2013 v10+ does not have mag ride, I don't think any of the + plus models have it.

Correct. The Plus and GT models come with passive dampers.

Why is that if the Plus is the higher end / more expensive one or does it have high end passive dampers? And if so isn't that an admission by Audi that the Mag ride isn't all that.

I don't think so. The plus passive dampers are fitted as an upgrade by owners who have failed mag ride apparently

Have to say that when it's not leaking the mag ride handling is bloody good tho!

Thanks for the great replies from everyone on my post here. Can I ask that if anyone sees for sale a Red 5.2 Sypder Facelift R8 or a possible Manual Red 5.2 earlier car (not Romans St Albans one) and not R Tronic you give me a heads up I will happily pay a small finders fee, as now unless I get a really, really great winter deal on another colour I am sticking to original Red plan!!

I'll set up an alert on Autotrader. How much $$$ is the fee?

I'm sure one will come up. When I was looking for my car I contacted about 5 dealers and asked for them to contact me if a V10 in my desired spec came into stock. Only one replied with a V8 but It's worth a try.

Good luck

So am I correct in thinking the car at Romans is good, but you won’t buy it because of their attitude.

Partly I have no idea on the Romans car as after a week of call and emails I was no closer to getting anything other than its a nice car from a really not interested sales guy. The car could be mint or could be a crock (its been with them since July) but I decided at 65k will stretch and go facelift later car as it's only a little more thats a 2010 car with near 30k miles for 65k I would say that top end money and when I talked 64k they didn't even respond. I left it a week ago with them getting back to me, so no more chasing on that one. As for my own PPI with them which I would want 100% I didn't ask but somehow I can feel it would not be welcome
