Great Thread - I'm just started looking for a V10 manual or S-tronic (PM me if anyone is selling) and got very excited about a white car with quilted leather, like Barrie - thank god I read this thread - itv was the same car :-)
There's a v10 manual with 50k miles for sale for £49,995 privately as the guy needs a quick sale. Cheapest one I've seen yet v10. I think it's on PH and AT
Cant see any convertible v10 manuals for 50k is it a coupe?

Ah no it's not, but it is cheap and it's carbon heavy :-)

I think the white one's back at BCA this week :-) Take care.

Thanks for the tip I'm looking for something with lower miles.

Not a fan of the spyder but that looks ok might be worth a viewing. Price seems reasonable

I am very sure that is a PH'ers car - reg looks familiar. Either that or I have seen it locally and the phone code suggests that is unlikely.

The price and mileage is good, but the advert leaves a bit to be desired. No pictures of the engine bay, boot or close-ups of the interior, and repeats itself on other items.

Phone code is usually masked.

Anyone driven a V10 spyder who is around the 6 foot 3 inch tall mark - Will I fit in one :-)

Can't help as I'm a lowly 5'11 but the cockpit seems very spacious, headroom is good and I seem to recall when Clarkson (at 6'5) reviewed the R8 he commented on the good headroom.

I'd buy that if I was back in the market I think mid 50s would work as long as the car checked out it's good to go the reason he is struggling is only a tiny percentage if buyers have 60k without the dealers finance packages part ex etc

Did these come with Audi Music Interface (AMI) or was that always an option on the R8?

That was the one thing I'd not considered when I was looking, but has turned out to be an essential and am so glad I ended up with a car that has it. I do tend to spend more time listening to the exhaust note than music, but when I want to blast out some tunes it's nice being able to stream from my mobile phone.

You don’t need ami to bt stream

Just a £40 eBay adapter that plugs into the back of the rnse

Glad I read this thread, I'm in the market to buy an V10 R8 spyder and the "Lemon" mentioned in this thread was one of the cars I was planning to look at.
What was a journey I was very much looking forward to taking: hunting down and buying a dream car, is now a journey filled with dread after doing some due diligence research.
Buying an R8 is now a tricky proposition........I'm initially leaning towards a facelift model with the S-tronic box as I'm coming from a 981S boxster with PDK and I loved that, however the GEN 1 does seem to be a better looking car, from the front anyway in my opinion.
Problem is, if you have to pay cerca £80k for a good facelift one, that is getting within spitting distance in price to the new shape R8 spyder which now seems to be cerca £100K entry level.
I've been looking for a while now, seems a lot of cars aren't selling so hopefully it's a buyers market.

I live in Spain and am travelling back to the UK in a couple of weeks to buy a car.
Can anyone recommend the best place/person to get a PPI done on one of these cars as this now seems to be a prerequisite if buying one of these "landmine" cars with many cars being listed with low miles and £14000 spent at dealers.....mag ride, clutches, AC units etc.
also many reports of audi warranty not covering the mag ride as considered as a consumable.

I'm still not sure which model I am going to go for....I'm a cash buyer which hopefully will help me........colour either black or white, leaning towards black but need to see some in the flesh to know for sure. If GEN 1 then think I'd prefer manual, bit of heal n toe to hear that V10........or if facelift looks ok in the flesh compared to gen 1 then I'd go for that.....do like the diamond stitching.
My budget is about £75k...can stretch a bit further but want to leave a bit in the pot for an exhaust and remap.

There's a car just been listed on ebay: 2013 Audi R8 5.2 FSI V10 Spyder S Tronic Quattro 2dr
+ 1 OWNER CAR + FACELIFT MODEL - 15k miles £69,995.....the dealer is based in Bristol.....www.HighburyMotors.com.....I'm guessing its a sale or return car as the dealer doesn't seem to be high end style without sounding like a @@@@

Any thoughts fellow petrol heads?

Don't let the interweb scare you off what is essentially a very reliable supercar. Yes they have their issues, but what car doesn't? Just to clarify a few points: The facelift car is still referred to as a Gen 1 and apart from a few trim and interior changes the biggest update was the S-tronic transmission which is a big step up from the previous R-tronic one.

The premature failure of the magride dampers is probably the biggest worry as they will set you back around £1k per corner with labour, but it's not the end of the world. My rears failed last year at 26K miles and after some extended head scatching I elected to change all four for the passive ones that are fitted as standard to the Plus model. Still a genuine R8 damper, but at about half the price. A/C compressor failure is only really an issue on the V8 as it requires the engine to be removed. This is not the case with the V10.

As far as a PPi is concerned, it is a 'must do' and you won't find better than Ricky at RE Performance in Swindon.

You may also want to check out the most active of all R8 forums at - R8talk.com, and also a UK FB page at R8 Owners Club UK.

Edited to add: the Highbury car on eBay looks good. Very fair price especially given the mileage. It's also relatively near to Ricky so arranging a PPI with him shouldn't be a problem.

The seats on that £69k car look a lot more worn for 15k miles than I'd expect, unless Audi leather really is that crap?

Pretty normal really. The bolsters always seem to show premature signs of use.
