Audi r8 Spyder

Their loss. I had similar when trying to buy a F430 from a dealer (not Romans, but same mentality) once. I had the audacity to suggest that I would like to get a PPI done on the car by Ferrari. Their response was basically to just keep repeating variations of "it's a lovely car" presumably in the hope that I would just take that as gospel and say "oh well if you say it's lovely then it must be". They too wouldn't return my calls.
Never really understood the mentality of dealers like that. If I was spending any reasonable amount of money I'd want to do my due diligence. What kind of customer, as in your case, takes a punt with £65k?
My take is that if a dealer is selling a £50k+ 2nd hand car and isn't prepared to let someone else do a PPI, they've got something to hide. Not always that black and white but it would make me think twice about it.Never really understood the mentality of dealers like that. The search goes on deal is off as Audi checked the car and said it was a crock needs 7 k spending on it so they won't sell it on do buyers beware it will pop up somewhere
Surely let them do the work and then buy it? Surely a few weeks of short term pain is worth the long term gain?Hmmmmmmmmmm....
That sounds very suspect in my opinion. I find it a bit staggering that they've a) taken the car in and presumably paid the previous owner for it and b) had already listed it for sale with such apparently obvious flaws?
It either passed the inspection / went through the approved scheme, or it didn't....
I'm naturally cynical though. One wonders whether one of their preferred customers made an enquiry about it.

There are a few R8s around at that sort of level. I'd advise caution before jumping at the first car that's offered to you. Appreciate it's not easy if you're in that "I've got a car coming on the way!" headspace.
If you do end up going for it, I'd be looking for them to sweeten the pot based on the fact that they nearly (apparently) sold you a lemon.

Don't you feel you are limiting your options in only being prepared to consider main deal cars? I can fully understand you wanting a good warranty, but Audi warranties are not exclusive to cars sold by the dealer network. A car purchased from another source can still have an Audi warranty applied to it so long as it meets the necessary criteria.
In your position, I would speak with Ricky at RE Performance and ask what he would charge to do a PPI, and I think you would find that the cost of this together with purchasing a warranty would still represent a good saving over what main dealers charge for their used cars.
With that in mind, have you seen this one:

Yep seen that one I can live with white black or red really. Plus for a few more shillings I really wanted a face lift car. They have offered me a 64 plate 7k mile s tronic spyder high spec'd for 78700 from 79950 supposedly mint with such low miles in black I think I might still leave it to be honest and wait for the right car but that does not seem a terrible price for such low miles but more than I started off wanting to pay

I think the depreciation on R8s is more significant than people (particularly owners) would like to admit. If you were looking for a Gallardo - with the same engine - it would be a good 5-6+ years older for the same sort of money.
Nice cars, but £129k+options new in 2015 and it's circa £79k now...

Hi yes they fall but how far? I don't mind taking a smaller hit than the original purchaser they must level out at some point to a much slower value decline. I guess its about where this car will be in 4 years with about 25k on the clock? my guess is 50k ish which means 28 k fall of approx. 7000 a year quite savage
