Oh dear a red 599 would be a disaster IMHO. Needs a dark colour - black, blue or grey smile

Black! Party because it’s that sort of thread and partly because the 599 is a large car and a v12, both characteristics point towards black for me.
Yeah I agree. Big GT cruisers don't tend to look so good in red as an outright sports car. Black, dark Grey or Blue would be my preference for a 599 not red and I'm a red guy

Surely there is no right answer here? The colour of a car and how it makes you react is entirely subjective to the individual looking at the car. Pretty pointless question really. Sorry.

The supercar which fuelled my passion for cars was black and that was the Lambo Countach in Cannonball Run.

LaFerrari in black or red looks great and I love the McLaren P1 in black.

An F40/F50 will have to be red for me.

Nero Daytona is the ONLY colour for a 599 (but then I am biased). They don't look good in red. If you really can't cope with black then very dark blue or silver/grey are OK but never rosso.

Black, grey, silver, and any dark colour which has you wondering whether it is or is not black are all boring IMHO, white somewhat less so. For a supercar one needs a good bright dose of saturated colour, for a 599 I'd go with a TdF blue.

599 is too big for red IMO.

Black is my 599 colour of choice, or at least something dark.

If you knew some basic colour theory, you'd understand why this isn't true.

Right, so anyone's opinion of what colour they prefer or would or not would not buy is immediately invalidated by "basic colour theory"..? Theory defined by whom? Someone with an opinion? Why would that opinion be any more valid than any other person's. This is not science, it is emotion. Utterly nonsensical statement sir.

Far from being a pointless question, I am merely trying to get a feeling for peoples thoughts on Black. I'm not saying it's going to change my opinion, but I wasn't aware that its the second most popular colour fro a ferrari, What I havn't learned yet is why people like it so much?

In my opinion it could be because any Ferrari looks good in black whereas some other colours only suit certain models. Front engine V12s (F12, 599, 550 etc) do not, I feel, look good in red (but a 512TR looks absolutely fine in red).

Personally, in respect of my 430 Scud...
I've had red many times before so thought I'd try another colour (after the idea was floated by a mate). I like the black because:

- Looks menacing and dramatic, especially without a front plate. Viewing the car in the rear view mirror it looks ace!
- Has a more grown up mature yet sophisticate look (over red). If it were my first Fezza I'd buy red but having ticked that box it gives the car a different character being black.
- At night (esp wet) and under lights it looks superb. I glance back from the cash desk in a petrol forecourt and it simmers under the neon lights.
- I have a strong black and yellow colour combo going on - for me works really well.
- More effort to keep clean but when polished it pops really well.

What matters is what you like, to be honest.

Back on topic, I personally like black. I've had two black Lambos and last week bought the wife a black Cali T. Also have a black 911 GTS and started off my car ownership with a black Capri 2.0S. Now that was a car !!

Mine was red and I think it did the lines of the car proud. Black 599's lose some of the detail in my opinion.
