Ferrari factory visit

Whilst staying in Lake Como I intend to visit the Ferrari factory in my 599. Only ever visited the TVR factory many years ago, so expecting something a bit different! Any suggestions?

If you don't have a booking (via main dealer) you won't get in plus its shut usually in August

I have just done the owners factory tour and its great. You have to book through a main dealer.

The general public tour is very poor apparently; literally drive you around the outside of their factories.

The Ferrari museum in Modeno (20 min drive from Maranello) is better than the one in Maranello. The Ferrari F1 simulator (in both museums) is good fun.

PS. Good luck driving a 599 round lake Como, the roads are very narrow and it will be quite a nerve racking experience!!

Both museums are worth a visit (Maranello and Modena), the Modena one is at Enzo's birthplace and is smaller but really nicely done.

The public factory tour is much like driving around an industrial estate in an air conditioned coach. Interesting to drive through the famous gates etc, but you see very little in the way of cars.

Obviously if you can get a proper factory tour as an owner then that would, I imagine, be much more interesting!

Have just emailed the dealer .. we are there 3 to 9 July so hopefully we will be OK. Otherwise I think I may leave it as the rest doesn't sound worthwhile.

Thanks for the heads up on the roads in Lake Como, I hadn't realised oops. Hopefully the drive there will be more rewarding.

Lambo public factory tour gets you inside and you'll see the hurcan or Aventador assembly line close up so better and worth it

Tickets are at set time and can be prebooked

Done maserati, ferrari, lamborghini, and ducati. First three are pretty much the same as each other, a car factory is a car factory. Ducati was infinately more interesting with much more attractive guides.

the general public only get a quick jog 'round

I asked the Lambo dealer about a factory visit a few weeks ago and they were happy to book it for me. The thing was that the cost was double what anyone could book a factory tour for on the Lambo website. I asked why was there such a difference in cost and was told it was a VIP tour. I asked how the VIP (dealer booked) tour differed from the tour one could book on-line. I never got an answer even after following it up several times.

did the public tour with the family two years ago - group of 10 altogether with one guide and headsets, walked around the aventador assembly line.... whole thing lasted about an hour... wasn't disapointed at all

saw a VIP tour going on also, 2:1, they also got to bits we didn't and clearly longer...

visited the maranello muesum, no factory tour.... bit too commercial

The family museum is really interesting. Lots of his personal cars plus other projects such as powerboat, helicopter and Popemobile

Second that and it's only a short drive from Sant Agata ,so easy to do both in same day.

Did the owners factory tour too, it was great as they took us around the various places in the factory in a large bus and there were only 2 of us :-)
The F1 collection across the road near the test track was fantastic, as was the 488 production line.
