in Modena is the Panini Museum (mostly Maseratis). Well worth a visit.

That looks amazing too .. on the list
Note ,you can only visit this one on prior written request.

When I went in 2008 ,I think ,there wasn't a soul about and me and a Czech couple just wandered about unhindered.

Why would you go all the way to Italy for a tour of a hot sandwich museum?

Pagani factory is also nearby. Call them direct, and if they have no customer visits planned they'll show you around.

Looking forward to visiting the area in a few weeks, not bothering with the Factory tour but booked Ferrari Museum tickets and probably got about half a day spare to try and visit somewhere else, any recommendations?
Will be based in Bologna, I think the Ducati museum is quite close, but not a massive bike fan. The Lamborghini museum doesn't look too far away, much more interested in this one but I will be on public transport. wink Pagani again doesn't look that far, but I've only got time to do one... scratchchin

Ferruccio Lamborghini museum in Funo if you only have time for one.

It's closer to Bologna than factory.

Unfortunately on closer inspection of the websites Pagani in shut on a Saturday afternoon and the Furruccio Lamborghini museum is shut for August. frown
So it looks like a bus ride to Sant'Agata for me. rotate

I've been to Pagani on a Sunday, though it was with a group of supercar owners. You just need to make arrangements with them. They are by appointment anyway.

Somehow I'd be doubtful if they'd open up for my party of one arriving by bus for a poke around the factory, and I think I'd rather see it 'busy' than deserted. wink
The Sant'Agata Lamborghini museum isn't too much of a consolation prise. smile The challenge will be me making it there on public transport when my grasp of the Italian language starts and ends with Ciao Bella hehe

Bit of a thread resurection, thinking of doing a road trip in my new to me 981 Cayman S. I have previously done road trips to Germany (Nurburgring) in my Cupra 420 so no stranger to driving abroad.

I fancy doing MK > Italy to incorperate a few museums (Ferrari, Lamborghnini, Ducati)

Whats the preffered route and usual stop off places, best place to get head down for the night to break up the journey? I usually do Nurbirgring in one day but looks like this is going to be a 2 day there and then 2 back?

4 days would be a mad dash and limit you to motorways all the way and back, when are you thinking of going? if current period then Italy require winter tyres this time of Year until April time even on the autostradas.

If you're set on it it's a long day but I'd aim to stay in Chamonix via the French autoroutes which are empty. Next day use the Mont Blanc tunnel and it's about 6 hours to Maranello/ Modena, early start could see you do 1 or 2 of the museums late afternoon. next day do the other 3 or 4 and head back to somewhere this side of Milan. You can drive home from there, it's about 14 hours door to door though!. I'd add a day to make the trip (slightly) more reasonable and add the Alfa museum this side of Milan to the list as well

Maps says Tunnel du Mont Blanc to Modena is 247 miles or 4 hours ,I thought 6 seemed a lot, posted above ,but you could

quite easily get held up going around Milan ring road.

For a dedicated car museum of Italy trip to this area you should look at....

Ferrari in Modena and Maranello.
Lamborghini in Sant Agata and Funo.
Pagani.
Ducati.
Alfa Romeo.
Maserati private museum {Panini collection} outskirts of Modena.
Maybe also the Mille Miglia museum in Brescia.

I've been to all the above bar Pagani and Ducati ,some multiple times.
