Not quite supercars so apologise for posting in here but if I post in Porsche section I know which way the answers will come - GT4!

Has anyone driven all? or owned?
like the Merc looks, reasonable noise, nice cockpit (although crap standard seats) did I mention its bloody quick...

GT4 - looks good and like the noise. Im sure its a hoot and looks quite controllable for putting out the back end... 365hp? its down on the ponies a bit to the Merc.

GTS - in Saphire blue well it would be this on the looks front all day long... Cabin nice, enough power and well its a 911...

my guess Is gt4 will lose the least money but might get much harder to sell if we go into a recession as its a pure toy whilst mr sensible will always by a 911 usable for everyday... hehe

Ive driven the merc and indeed the GTR (potentially huge depreciation)
Im thinking under £90k is less risk of taking a huge bath.
Last time I did the calculation on even a 2 yr old Merc GTS it looked to me like it was going to lose £40k in 2 years of owning...
is this too pessimistic ?

thoughts?

I owned a gt4,a 991.2 gts and have driven the amg gt extensively .

It really depends what you want the car for.
Dynamically I did not like the Mercedes,it looks brilliant but the ride was atrocious and I wasn’t a fan of the steering .It is also tricky to place if you drive on small roads .
The 991 is the best all rounder ,but in gen1 form you have to thrash the engine to get it moving ,it lacks torque as does the gt4 .
For a weekend toy the gt4 walks it,but it is a physically demanding car and I would be careful about spec ,a lot of people like me specced the 918 buckets but a lot of people like me found them horribly uncomfortable to the point I got fed up with the level of discomfort .

Can’t help with driving impressions, but I would have thought the GT4 will hold value the best given they are held in high regard and relatively limited
Also if a recession hits, I’d think you will still have enthusiasts (should not use that word going by the discussions on another thread...) will still buy a GT4, but the others might find fewer buyers (relative to the number of cars and competition in their segment)

Purely personal opinions and not trying to start a right or wrong discussion

Hi Franky
Good opinion and haven't driven the gts on back roads although I did have a proper test of the Gtr but it's too much money for what it is and will depreciate

I really need to drive the gt4 and I'm not afraid of buying one with the normal chairs !!! I've got a weekend toy so this would be more worked than my other cars and it's got race seats although they are comfortable !

Likewise the pork GTS I need to drive it. I've only driven a 991turbo S briefly and although it is mighty and looks amazing it's not got enough revs and noise for me.

IN terms of depreciation ,the gts will retain strong value,it is the last n/a no 'gt' car Porsche made, the turbo is so different from the regular 911s you cannot draw anything from a drive in it.
Don''t be put off by my chair comments, some people love them .The folding buckets are an option as well ,I would strongly suggest a very long drive in the various seats to establish your favourite.A short drive can be misleading.

Turbo S does everything too well, but accordingly lacks any drama.
Best to remove the Turbo badge or you find nothing else wants to play.

Owned a GT4, great looking car, felt tight proper sports/track car, only downside felt slightly under powered.
Recently sold my AMG Gts, great car quicker by some measure than the GT4 but not as driveable but still a cool car with a fabulous sound track and the usual Merc quality.
Test drove a Gts 911 before I bought the Merc and in retrospect I think I should have gone for the 911.

Owned a GT4 for a little while and until recently a 991.1 GTS.

The biggest disappointment with the GT4 for me was the motor - it felt flat and needed more top end. In complete contrast the power pack equipped lump in the GTS is sublime and sounds just as good as it goes.

Has to be the GTS for me every-time.
