Calling any F-type an "ugly Jag" is just plain nutty especially compared to the R8. And while I prefer the previous XKR X150 generation for size and comfortability, I have spent time driving an F-type and quite enjoy it and think they're beautiful, certainly more atrractive than their German counterparts. And with rather simple and inexpensive tune and pulley upgrade (certainly under $1000) you can extract well over 600hp from the incredible Jaguar 5.0L supercharged engine. Lister is now putting out a modded F-type at nearly 700hp from that engine (with a 7 year warranty, how's that for confidence?).

I am sorry but I just don’t get the Jag thing, certainly not why anyone would wish to move from an R8 to one anyway.
Beauty in the eye and all that I know, but at the end of the day it’s just a mass produced JLR product, full of unreliable electronics like the Four wheel drive range they produce.

The brand has always attracted the older gent, even the sportier models inc the current F-Type. There's 4 or 5 that frequent our local gym, all driven by senior chaps - the youngest being in his 60's. During sauna chat he did mention they have only appealed to him in later years. I quite like the look, hate the cheap interior but I still feel too young to get one (at 46). Strange how reputations like this take years to build and are very hard to shake.

Since I started the thread not much has shifted. I think the r8 has more presence but still hanker after a really low mile blue f type svr with carbon brake package. it must be my age!! that said I don't want to be 80k into a jag if it's 40k in 3 years cuz my r8 has bottomed out and seems solid ish even in today's market

Just spent a long weekend hooning around the Scottish Borders with a few mates, (some of those roads, WOW..) in my 'old mans Jag' SVR and have to say it was an absolute treat, behaved impeccably with more grip than I dared to exploit, and we don't hang around.. Second hand I think they make a great buy.

You are winding us up I hope? Either that of you've got serious trouble with your mince pies!
