Also the 458 is approaching 10 years old and as you know is normally aspirated. The 488 v 570 S is a more realistic comparison.
These are the respective figures in seconds 0 to 60, 0 to 100, 0 to 160, standing quarter mile.
488 2.95 5.95 15.5 10.3
570S 3.0 6.0 16.7 10.5
458 3.0 6.2 16.5 10.8
Well that settles it then! Also the 458 is approaching 10 years old and as you know is normally aspirated. The 488 v 570 S is a more realistic comparison.

458 3.0 6.2 16.5 10.8
The 570S can't possibly be a supercar like what the 488 is cos it's one twentieth of a second slower to 100 mph!
Such aspirational stuff!
Who decided that the 458/488 IS a supercar? My own opinion is that it ISN’T. Nor is the 570S. (Did I get the nomenclature right? It’s just that the whole McLaren naming strategy mystifies me. After the 12C, with the possible exceptions of the P1 and the Senna, they all look absolutely identical to me, and giving them numbers rather than names helps not one whit!)
Nor is the Gallardo, Huracan, R8, SLS AMG, AMG GTR, Nissan GTR etc. They’re merely high-powered sports cars.
“Supercar” isn’t a category or niche, like “estate”, “saloon” or “SUV”. It’s not about acceleration (I notice that nobody has included the Tesla Model S P100D in their figures). Ignore “hypercar”; in a world where he who shouts loudest wins and some people therefore insist that a development of the KdF Wagon deserves the label “supercar”, the muttering rotters had to find a new label. So when the Huracan becomes a supercar, surely the Aventador becomes a hypercar? So the Centenario must be a “megacar”?
How can the 458 be a supercar when the La Ferrari exists?
How can the Huracan be a supercar when the Aventador exists?
How can the 570S be a supercar when the F1 existed a quarter of a century ago?
How can the R8 be a supercar when the TT exists?

i don't get your point, are you saying you think a manufacturer can only make/have one supercar? How can the Huracan be a supercar when the Aventador exists?

It's cold outside
Also my R8 is in the garage at the moment about to present a supercar-level bill for a new bonnet
They have given me an Audi A3 loaner which is definitely not a super car
My Mac is in the garage is definitely a supercar as I've got a Merc S350D LWB loan car otherwise I would of got a A180D Also my R8 is in the garage at the moment about to present a supercar-level bill for a new bonnet

Drive for some considerable time/own a Performante and you will understand. Both are sports cars. One probably qualifies as a supercar.
Historically, the supercar tag has been appended to those rare vehicles that have really moved road-orientated sportscar engineering or performance forward. Although you could argue that many cars retrospectively deserve the title, it seems to have come into use in the late 60s. So you could argue that the Muira was the original. What came next? Maybe nothing through the ‘70s? The (288) GTO? 959? F1. Zonda.
Apply the tag to every mid-engined, two-seat sports car of 8 cylinders or more and it becomes devalued and meaningless.
As has been said before, down most give or take roads, in an HP wouldn’t see a top end Caterham or Atom for dust. Does that make them supercars?

Left me cold! Yes, it’s very fast. But I really didn’t find it very involving. Fabulous-sounding engine, but I was horribly aware that most of the pops and bangs weren’t the foibles of a carb-fed racing motor, but deliberately engineered into the ECU. Thoroughly disliked the assisted steering! Meanwhile, the Aventador STILL has a thoroughly obstreperous gearbox and won’t fit through the carpark barriers at work.

Riiiiiiiight ok then
You do realise that approximately zero percent of the global population would agree with that?

But your figures suggesting the 570S was 8 seconds quicker than the 488 to 160mph are totally innacurate at 26 seconds and frankly ridiculous.
