A thread that isn't about a Mac! What is PH coming to?

At the moment I have a 50th Gallardo, which I love but I've seen a lovely Performante for sale and can get a good deal on it. However, as the Gallardo is one of only 13(?) in the country part of me thinks I should keep hold of her. Prices on both are only going one way at the moment so which would be the best car to hold onto long term?

As you have been kind enough to change marques I think you deserve some replies. From depreciation point your 50th is further along the curve than the Performante and therefore has less to lose both in short and medium term, I am sure they will both continue to lose value in the current market. More importantly is how you intend to use and drive it. I’ve owned a couple of Gallardos and couple of standard Huracan averaging approx 7,000 miles a year in each.
At my last service this year I had a Performante for a couple of days as a courtesy car. To be honest the Performante is definitely a better performance car, but it is harsher and has a bit of an exhaust drone at NSL+ speeds, I did a 3,000 mile Euro trip last year and I can truthfully say I would take the standard Huracan Spyder I have over the Performante. If you just use it for short distance blasts, weekends out and tracks then I’m sure the Performante will be a better bet and more rewarding for you. Either version will be a revelation compared to your Gallardo but especially the Performante version.
It’s a great problem to have and good luck with your dilemma. Cheers.

Yes, yes and yes, it’s the most visceral super car you can buy, this side of a SVJ...

However, should you replace your current car, only a test drive will tell you that..

Long term, keep it more than 3/4 years, and you’ll find people looking for the last greatest NA supercar to cherish over the Turbo/hybrid Dyson's that everyone else will be driving..

I love my Performante, just got back from Goodwood and for the first time there was nothing there that I would want over my Lambo, an 2019 model and one of the last Spyders made.

A dealer friend says that people are still looking for the Perf over the new EVO, and I don’t have any intention of letting mine go.

Longer term it will hold its value at least vs. the regular Huracan models, although not sure it will achieve the legendary status and value of some of the special edition Ferrari V8s. But it may well be the last great V10 NA engine, with the next generation being hybrid at the very least. 261 registered in the UK up to the end of March, and they stopped making them around then, so reasonably rare.

Lots of reasons to buy one, but expensive and I am expecting it to depreciate short term. I think its a keeper for me though.

Honestly if you can afford either. Buy the one you want to own. Life is too short to be asking other people their opinion. No one knows what’s going to happen to future values.

Drive yours, then drive a perf, if the difference you feel is worth the difference in price then trade up. If it’s not then keep the one you own.

Unless you want to be talked in to buying the performante. In which case you shouldn’t definitely buy it. I think it’s the best all round Supercar. Noise, looks, performance and handling.

I'm on my third, that's how good I think they are.

My friend who replaced his standard Huracan with my old performante said the difference is night and day.

All of the upgrades they have made over the standard car are very noticeable when on road.

Agreed they have deprecated massivly, especially considering they only made 550 spiders however I think it is starting to level out after the initial hit.

Speak to some dealers as there are some pre reg unused cars available with decent discounts.

love it. Want it. But am conflicted. Not sure if buying a car at this level is a good idea at the moment. I am not a serial supercar buyer so a bit of a noob at this kind of thing. Also Mine is one of, what, 12 in the country.

Thoughts?

Great value cars imo but if you are unsure about purchasing now leave it until December post Brexit and bag one for c£160k.

I think rhd performance cars will take a big hit after brexit. Buyers market at the moment and know friends that have had very substantial discounts on Ferrari and Porsche (pre reg dealer cars).

Out of interest, why will RHD take a big hit after Brexit

The projection is that the economy will suffer, if BJ gets his way, and UK people wont buy cars, i.e. this will affect the local market which is RHD. The pound vs euro will drop after Bexit, and the LHD market will be bolstered by the EU buyers coming and clearing the LHD stock from the UK.

I’m on my second Perf, 1st was a coupe second a Spyder. Both are fantastic cars. That said my first Huracan was a 610/4. I had a black car with red/black interior and it was stunning. I fitted a Lambo racing exhaust and that transformed the feel of the car completely. The 610 is still a hugely capable car and is only marginally less capable than the Perf. Ignore the bullst that’s written about them online they are very very good. In a straight line there’s nothing between the Perf or the 610.
If you’re not going to do track days don’t dismiss the 610, you’d get a great car for 140 or less, just change the exhaust imo.

Well if the articles from the past week about VAG looking to get rid of the V10 and V12, delaying the Aventador replacement until 2024 and doing cost cuttings which means less money for R&D at Lamborghini the Perf might just be the last track focused Huracan before the replacement is out. I feel the Perf will be a good buy for long term.

I have owned a Gallardo SL570, a Huracan 610 and now the Performante. The Performante is by far the most superior car in every way

I know it's a superior car in everyday to what I have. My main concern and probably the reason I won't go ahead with it is that in the next couple of months it could, like most cars of this ilk, drop in value considerably given the economic uncertain around Brexit. Or am I being too cautious?

Your original post said you could get a good deal on one now, so buy it now. Alternatively wait until Christmas and buy one cheaper, or wait until next Christmas when they may even cheaper...

Or wait a few more years and buy open then. It's just one big long wait with you wink

Head or heart choice this.
