Lovely:

But already sold for less:

Nice business model - buy on one with less traffic and lower prices, sell on the other for more!

I was definitely over-refreshed, but to be fair to my drunk self I did stay within the limit I'd set.

I can be honest and say that new platform and COVID boredom definitely contributed to making the purchase - but the good news is that the car happens to be as advertised. Better, perhaps. The owner is a lovely chap who has obsessed over it for a number of years and I feel quite fond of it already, to the point that its stolen my GT3's garage space (for now).
Congratulations cam. Whatever you paid its worth it to you and that's what matters sounds like you are very happy. Enjoy.

Indeed. And whoever wins the bidding will have to add 6% whereas the current owner didn't incurr any fees via TM. As said, CC appear to have created an image of selling the best cars.

To be fair, some of the sold prices on TM are quite strong. I followed a Renault GTA that went for nearly £14k, which is more than the owner and then dealer were able to realise via traditional advertising.

What do we think the performante that’s up in a few weeks will go for? Don’t think the spec listed yet
Anything over £138k would be expensive.

Winning bid £60,500. Is that not outstanding value, for the buyer?

That’s amazing. You learn something everyday. Having asked Google you are indeed correct sir.
Perhaps you were subconsciously trying to rhyme with Stroll.

From memory Joe Macari sold two similar cars last year simultaneously, a pair. They too were very early models. I think they were 60k each and that’s from a dealer. Cheapest by far and sold quickly at the time. That being said these are so specialised and the market so lumpy that evaluating a price is tricky. The others currently for sale are generally later models, most with the later/larger engine, some carbon bodied etc and thus command a higher price but still aren’t shifting. I wonder if there will be deals to be had in 6-9 months.

I think the headline prices on CC can look good, but by the time you add the premium, factor in the absence of dealer warranty/back-up and sometimes the fact the cars have something about them that drives a price delta and I’m not sure the prices are “much lower". They look more like today’s trade prices. There are many opinions on this, but I think there is much more downside to come in the next 12 months.

i agree - the market for these Monos must be tiny, this was a very early car and i think it was for sale up until now with a dealer for £75k and obvioulsy not shifting.

Thanks for the replies. Useful information. I shouldn’t really be on this thread as I’m certainly not in the market for a super car. However, I’m glad I was otherwise engaged when the BAC MONO closed, as I might have done something stupid. It really stood out, for me. Can you imagine arriving at work in that?!

Yes, initially looked a bargain, but as a friend pointed out:

Lots of ifs and buts (new engine, change of colour, change of instruments to kms etc) all prob fine but may make resale harder. Albeit cheapest bac by some way...

If you’re going to keep it, it was an absolute bargain.

Strange car this one.... we had it in stock about two years ago, absolute belter, one of the best driving 205s I’ve driven. Struggled to get it away though, eventually sold into trade again (for a good profit!). It then sat with that trader for nearly a year I think, eventually selling through The Market at what I thought was a bargain. Looks like the current owner is going to do well out of it!

Service history looks good....Fearnsport have a good reputation...like the fact it’s a car that’s been used regularly. Drivers seat looks pretty knackered to me so I think that needs attention. Also think from the description depending on how you are about these things that it might need a respray...sounds like it’s had two or three panels painted and quite a few stone chips and some other damage than needs sorting.

If it was me buying it I’d want to get the interior and paintwork done....you could do that for less than £10k or get really good glass out job done and be looking at twice that money easily.

Lovely thing and I thought it sold cheap on The Market. A 205 GTi in steel is in my dream garage. Fantastic things.

£9200 with 5 days to go suggests it'll go well over £10k + the fee so the owner has done quite nicely, at least in % terms.

Thanks Cheib - I’m bidding on the car currently, if successful I would probably do a full retrain to black and a full respray to either black, silver or ... gold.. it’ll be a long term keeper so not looking to make a profit on it or worry about resale.
