Looks like it's a long wait to get a new one judging the dates on that image above? 8 for sale on PH, none newer than 2014. Is it a case of "find another", and some very wealthy person just wanting it now for a £14k premium instead of a long wait?

Edit: And there's only one Atom on AT, again a 2014.

Maybe Atom will look and see it as what they could ask for their cars - as long as they’ve got a demand slightly more than production they’re missing out on extra revenue.

Ariel Atom 4 sold for roughly £14500 over list tonight including the buyers premium.

Great premium for the seller.
I just don’t get this one at all. Someone paid £63,600 for a car the seller happily provided info showing he paid £49,600 for not so long ago.

I get it to a degree with some Porches, Ferrari’s etc - but an Atom has always seemed so personal you’d want to be involved in its making with regards to steering racks, suspension, brakes, pedal adjustment - unless you were getting a healthy discount.
The new atom starts at £39k as well. I looked into buying one a couple years back and they sent me the price list. I don’t remember it being possible to get one anywhere near £60k even. Carbon wheels were something like £9k though.

But it was a 2 year waiting list so I didn’t order in the end.

I don't have a price list for the Atom 4, but do for the Nomad which is very similar pricing. I ended up at £65k.

The Atom 4 is more expensive than the 3 was in 2011 when I bought mine, and that was a fairly low spec and £45k.

It’s hard to compare like for like but the Nomad is a bit more expensive and doesn’t really command the same (or any?) premium. You can get a decent spec Atom 4 for about £55k. Certainly possible to spend a lot more.

I’m surprised a low spec one went for such a premium, though. Nice return for the original buyer.

I have an Atom 4 and with my spec it was just under £59,000, I could have easily spent more, the ones which have sold have missed some key options too (in my opinion) so I am surprised how much money they have achieved.

There was around a 3 year waiting list for them (it may be slightly less now), I can honestly say it's the best car i've driven and I am not even remotely tempted to move mine on despite the premiums they are fetching.

The one thing with lock down is, there are many many bored people, many people who are unable to go away spend ££ etc etc and may think this is there way of having some fun in 2020

I understand from a friend who is waiting for his Atom 4 to be built that Ariel are having parts supply problems currently due to Covid & that the size of their factory will cause further production delays. As you say, spec is key & the 4 that has just sold also had a full windscreen which I’m sure many wouldn’t want. The long waiting list for a factory build slot won’t alter much IMO.

If the owners or managers of the site are reading can you please set up a seperate number plate section.

It really demeans teh site when you have a plate like V10JKH which is 'perfect for your Lambo'

It is if you are a prawn with no taste and the cars logo on the plate..To the rest of us its just silly and the florid desroption of the plates look like they are written by Swiss Tony

I see another Atom is coming. Also a nice Scuderia and LHD F12 should be good.

I do wonder about the veracity of all of that ferrari luggage! There does seem to be an awful lot of luggage sets suddenly appearing...

Maybe a vehicles and non-vehicles split would be best? Cars and bikes together.

I suspect the logic is that people browsing cars will also see the plates and luggage listings and it may spark an interest.

It'll be hard for them to balance, you can never please everyone.

But if the site stayed at 50%+ number plates, luggage and car parts.... I wouldn't visit it any more.

I think they're making a big mistake in weighing up general interest in these things.

59 V for sale... by their advert thats great if your name begins V or you're born in 1959. How many of their visitors does that fit with? You shouldn't be giving prime retail space to something 99% of your visitors won't buy, or won't share on social media.

A few sites are popping up now with much more reasonable fees than CC.

I think they have (already) had their day.
