Incidentally, I was surprised this beauty didn't sell, and also that the top bid was just £62k - https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/1964-jaguar-e-...

I could be chatting st but I read somewhere that E-type values closely track the prevailing economic climate. Something to do with there being so many of them made and still in use.
So perhaps not entirely surprising. They do seem to vary massively in asking price.

I reckon £62k is probably about right for a series 1 FHC in the current market. It’s the wrong colour, so factor in a good repaint and it’s all the money.
I agree it seemed like a fair price especially if you zoom in on the sills and underneath which has quite a bit of rust..Well, I had a trader offer me £65K for my Series II last week (which I dismissed out of hand!) so I'd say a good series 1 is worth way more.
Thing is, without looking VERY closely it's hard to distinguish the best from the merely superficially smart and the former will be worth twice the latter. I'd never buy one sight unseen unless it was really cheap and worth a punt which is why I suspect this one didn't sell.
And later S1s and SIIs are much more comfortable to drive than the earlier cars like this one. I've done non-stop 2-300 mile trips in mine with no comfort issues at all.

Still on the subject of E Types isn't this simply the most gorgeous thing ever..

If it was a series 2 fixed head I wouldn’t have dismissed it!Thing is, without looking VERY closely it's hard to distinguish the best from the merely superficially smart and the former will be worth twice the latter. Completely agree on the difference between absolute minters in peak fettle, and everything else, but this looked like a £60-70k car to me. Throw £20k+ at it and you may get your money back but you’re only 1 hidden horror away from a loss.
Also agree, that the later S1 and S2 are more comfortable but early cars have a certain something. I even prefer the early seats (that get slated) because you actually feel like you’re sitting in the car rather than on it!

I agree....think it’s just stunning. Listened to a Podcast the other day with one of the guy’s who has been with Eagle from the beginning....some of the engineering effort they go to is ridiculous ! https://youtu.be/XQY7gnYvF68

Next interesting result will be the LHD 997.1 GT3 RS, especially considering there is an unsold one on the open market.
Anyone viewing the market.co.uk as well?
I thought the bidding would of been far stronger on this one, been slow to get it up to £65k. Still two days left mind, wouldn’t shock me if it jumps at the end as their is plenty of watchers. Anyone viewing the market.co.uk as well?

There’s an orange LHD one on the open market even now at £87k.
At least those two cars will come with some form of warranty.
