I guess you have never driven an F430 down a decent country road.
I owned one of the last ones full spec inc racing seats CCbs and rear challenge grill back in 2009 hence why it seems old hat to me now.
Beautiful car at time but the game has moved on an awful lot since then.
458 was a massive step up for ferrari and even that feels old now

I swapped an underwhelming 718GT4 and went 540C as I didn’t want Carbon brakes. It’s so quick and a lot of fun to drive.
interesting to hear you were not a fan of the gt4 that was another potential on my list

2016 570S went for £76k inc buyers premium on CC.

I sold my 718GT4, entirely impractical on road due to height and length of nose.

Gt4 wouldn’t see which way a 570S went, heavier, gappy gears vs dual clutch and a third less power imho.

Besides buyer wants a supercar and Cayman isn’t that, for 85k it’s a sports series McLaren, r8, SVR f type, AMG GTR, or older Ferrari / Lambo.

i was very close to getting a f type last year test drove the awd v8 and did really enjoy it , svr has come down loads in price would hate to of paid retail for one ! dont seem to see too many great reviews on it though, has to be one the best sounding stock cars though !

I fell in love with the 570s but I could not park it outside my house unmolested, so I went for the new V8 Vantage and love it. The Merc AMG GT is too much of a macho car for me, the Aston is subtle, fast as hell and will keep you on your toes, yet everyone lets you pull out into traffic.
Watch my review of my V8 Vantage on a 400 mile round trip to Devon and back in a day
i do like the amg gtr looks wise but without all the aero of the gtr its a bit boaty and odd looking i find , do like the new vantage very nice !

Best way I can explain it is that the gt4 just felt like a very, very expensive cayman, a recent McLaren for the same price feels like a bargain supercar.

GT4 as rapid as a 570S on real world UK driving roads especially in the wet.

As a track car the 570S is well out of its depth and Mclaren would void your warranty too. No issues to the track focused GT4 and warranty honoured by Porsche too.

Never had any issues with either a 981 GT4 or 718 GT4 due to insufficient front clearance.

Poor reliability, depreciation and widely reported poor dealer backup are the real Mclaren issues.

Wanted to love the 570S but ended up frustrated by it as have many others.

Loving the ‘....especially in the wet’ addition.

Try Chris Harris review of 570, he says it’s as good as a gt3 rs on track.

Gt4 won’t clear a speedhump, dropped curve pavement, it’s lower than a gt3 and that has nose lift.

570S would be very heavy on consumables.

Ok for CH to laud its praises for a couple of laps after that it would be burn out.

I have a 991.2 GT3 and GT4 its the same front height.

Bet you £10 the cayman is longer from Front wheel centre to tip of lower spoiler, it’s height + overhang that’s the issue.

Be a boring world if we all liked the same things.

Personally I wouldnt glance twice at any porsche, just don't think they are "special".

A great sports car but neither sexy or exciting plus every Tom Dick or Harry seems to have one and the lowest common denominator is the boxster.

Rather have an entry level car of a higher super car brand personally.
Audi R8 suffers the same fate for me as well

I realise that you (really, really) love your Porsches but it is amusing that you say this, particularly given your comments on the 'fastest road car under 100k' thread....

from what i have seen most review the 570 very highly and for the price its beating pretty much everything including much higher priced rivals , only downside it warranty cost and reliability . i agree on the r8 falling into a similar bracket of the 911 in it being not very exotic , but as essentially a huracan for 40k plus less is a great deal and am assuming pretty reliable . i dont want any thing too old so rules out ferrari or lambo , only other porsche would be gt4 in budget but not sure i would see it as much of an upgrade . leaves me with 570s which would come with warranty if through dealer r8 v10 or v12 vantage or possibly vanquish 8 speed.

Wow 991 Turbo to a F430. PDK to F1
Apart from noise I think that's quite a big step back and not sure what OP would want unless he wants to go Old skool lol
I guess you have never driven an F430 down a decent country road.
I followed one down a decent country road last weekend and could keep up easily using only half throttle whilst he was locking up wheels and revving the nuts of it..... I’d suggest it’s more old school than you think, E.g. is it a single or dual clutch gearbox?
I drove one over the Lecht ski centre road in Scotland and it was brilliant, it was plenty fast enough but not so fast as to be unusable, I loved the feel, feedback, sound and handling, it was fun to drive even at sensible speeds. I have been lucky enough to drive many high performance cars, including a Zonda but the F430 is very high up my list of favourite cars.

looking to sell my 991 turbo in the near future and looking for opinions on what next, i dont daily my cars and am looking for a fun weeked car . Theater and overall experience is big for me aswell as performance but i havnt to date done any track days etc. moved from a tuned gtr to my current 991 turbo which i love but would like something more exotic and theatrical , the 991 is classic german amazing handling, fast well engineered but lacks the emotion.

my current options i can think of are r8 v10 plus gen 2 , mclaren 570s . To add something else to the mix i drove my friends ferrari ff few weeks ago and fell in love with the sound , unfortunatly the ff is out of budget but v12 vantage/vanquish d11 are potential options. any thoughts ?
Lotus Exige Cup 430 or 410
Sound is awesome. Performance is electric. The open gear shift is a lovely piece of theatre. Can be convertible if you want. Exclusive, very few of them around.

The 570S isn’t a track focussed car. Try the 600LT as a fair comparison with the GT4. McLaren void the warranty if used on track, why? Anyway, the OP hasn’t said he is looking for a track car. He wants something with theatre, overall experience and performance. 570S provides those in abundance.

I was in a similar situation to the OP In April last year, deciding between Porsche, AM, Lambo and Ferrari but chose the Mac. In fact I was very close to buying a new 570S Spider but was offered a decent discount on a barely used 720S, otherwise I would have chosen the 570S.

Easy decision.
Corvette C7 Z06, if you can find one. £85k buys a low mileage late car. Great handling, rewarding to drive, all the theatre you could ever want, 650 bhp, reliable and inexpensive to service, fantastic soundtrack, and best of all, as rare as hens teeth in the U.K.
People on here will say downsides are left hand drive, but that’s nearly always people that haven’t driven a LHD car. Honestly it makes no difference.
Just my opinion. 🙂

I'm biased, but at the current prices it really is hard to look past a 570S, considering the criteria of a special, quick weekend car. Totally different kettle of fish to a GT4, on the road the performance isn't even comparable (av185 porsche tinted glasses may say otherwise)

The R8 would be a fantastic if safe choice. Lovely engine, but missing something for me.

Some real world running costs on my 540C -

Warranty £2800
Servicing roughly £500/£1200 alternative years
Tyres £250 a corner
MPG I'm averaing around 25

I think you probably need to drive a few options as they are all quite different - for the supercar experience I would probably exclude Porsches, Mercedes, Aston, Lotus and Audi

My ideas
Ferrari 360 manual
Ferrari 430 F1 (I prefer the single-clutch box to double-clutch)
Ferrari 599 for the V12 (bit heavy for track days though I'd assume / consumables)
McLaren 540, 570, 650
Lamborghini Gallardo (not sure which ones are in budget, I really like the way the 560 looks). Possibly you could get a LHD Superleggera close to your budget
A 355 or Testarossa would also give the experience, but clearly much older

The FF is really more of a daily driver, while the V12 is special it is a big and heavy car
