I think that car is probably the best everyday supercar, if not 911 / new Corvette.

Of course they can. One has 440bhp the other has 525-605bhp. They consider the ones with 500+bhp to be Supercars. Maybe there's a friend who could explain it to you.
so miuras and countachs aren't supercars then ? smile
Yep they are in my book. In their day, they were at the top of their game. That cachet is never lost.

I'm not saying a car needs to be over 500bhp to be a supercar, or that any car with over 500bhp is a supercar. I'm saying that EVO consider the V10 to be one, but the V8 to not be one.

Had Audi called the V10 an R10, the argument would have been solved.

V8 or V10 doesn't make a difference to how I view them, but I guess we are all different. Calling it an R10 wouldn't make me view them any differently either.

No it wouldn’t would it PH USer as you are the oracle of all things Supercar. We all bow before your superior knowledge. Honestly get a little humility.

I wouldn’t let this guy boil your piss, he’s done over 20,000 posts in 6 years. It’s likely he doesn’t even own a car, or even go outside rofl

If you don't care what I think then why did you post?

I also presume you noticed that I said that this is how I view the R8 and not how everyone should view the car?

Or just lead a very dull life? 9 posts a day is a huge amount to me. You are in my view a Super PH User. Not a sporting user.

Look you pontificate on your views, so tell us what you drive to allow us to give our opinions on your garage.

I had specific reasons behind buying an R8.
It is in the eyes of 99% of people including myself a very special car.
The kind of car which looks amazing, goes faster and handles better than 99% of other road cars. Is mid engined, dry sumped & loooow.
Has side blades. Huge reason to buy one as really only the R8 and the Bugatti Veyron have these. Which also is a VW group product.
Therefore only VW group cars with Side blades can really be classed as Supercars. (This is a joke BTW)

The R8 Can sit outside in all weathers and is to 99% of people a Supercar.
Children and adults come up to have a look as they are very rare.

I would class the new Corvette as getting into Supercar territory. This may not gel with EVO magazines opinion? Readership 30,000. Yes 30,000! Not 300,000 or 3,000,000. That’s 0.045% of the population. So again hardly mass market.

Now a sports car of which I’ve had a few is usually-
Looks good, is front engined (911 excepted), fast-ish, handles well and although not too common you would probably see a few during a days driving around most areas of the country.

Now I don’t want to be a bore but go on show us what you drive.

Why are you so bothered, the more you try to convince others the more you convince them of the opposite, you certainly dont see true supercar owners doing the same, maybe thats some of the problem people have with things like R8s, the type of person that buys them…

I own both btw so have no vested interest but the strong opinions people have around it have always interested me, especially owners of ‘seen as’ sub supercars that try convincing others their car ‘is’ a supercar (which is an incredibly individual label anyway, if you want to label things)

Labels of any kind are so crasse to me, someone on here said the other day, why de-badge your ferrari, makes no sense! some just dont get it…

I'm glad you enjoy your car, but why does it matter so much to you if people don't think it's a supercar?

Now in between posts just pop outside and get us a custard pic of your La Ferrari, zonda, 918 etc parked in front of your mums house hehe

It’s always good to get an understanding of what one drives and how it shapes opinion.

I guess if you can’t do that then your opinion isn’t based on experience and is just, well, meaningless waffle. It’s what dilutes the value of this place.

I've owned and driven an awful lot of different types of cars since the R8 1st came out, but I've never viewed it as a supercar.

What are your criteria for something to be a supercar?
