Anyone else up for this? Hoon across to Germany for a few laps of the Nordschleife next June. Might have to stop off & get the ECU 'serviced' on the way out though.

I'll be at the Ring 3 or 4 times next year.

When? very much depends on the opening times which are normally released at the end of Jan/early Feb.

When I go I either stay at the Dorint Hotel (£120ish for a twin room inc breakfast per night) which is on the edge of the village and on the F1 track or at a guest house 20 minutes away (25 euro per person per night). The good thing about the Dorint is the undergropund parking and being able to walk into Nurburg and go on the Piss. The good thing about the guest house is it's massive, pils is 1 euro a bottle and it's owned by a british bloke and his american mrs (both bike nuts, he does 170 on his ducati going to work EVERY day). They also have a massive screen telly with lots of incar videos, and don't mind you drinking til 3.30 in the morning.

Kevin, you are f**king mad!! How could you want to do such a thing to the red blur? Do you know what it can mean in terms of tyres, costs etc???

Only kidding!!!! I'm up for this, 355 or 360. Either way, definitely up for this. Sounds great. I'm definitely in.

Got the 355 squiggling loads yesterday, and had bloody good fun doing it. I was minus the g/f and any passengers, which actually helps in that kind of scenario as you don't get an earful of crap, which actually only serves to put you off.

PS. Why aren't you coming to Casino sometime next few weeks?

PPS. If you don't come along, can we take Max? He might help us win some money? Or better still, help get us some.....

As you guys are looking at travelling to and fom Bonn, why don't you do it the weekend of the Ferrari festival which was in early september this year.

Two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Fantastic Ninja! Oh we will have a hoot...

PS. Why aren't you coming to Casino sometime next few weeks?

Mainly because I'm an old fart

I am happy to hire him out at very reasonable rates! He likes his Uncle Ninja and there is no doubt he will be an awesome accomplice. His vocabulary has come on in leaps and bounds since you last saw him and you can have a pukka conversation with him. He will completely understand what you want him to do... though maybe not your motives!

Daz- do you combine business with pleasure on these trips or can you choose when you go? Why not come on this one; failing that you bet your boots I would really like to tag along on your next trip.

Cheers Kev - I think a pilgrimage to the 'ring should become and annual religious event.

We could possibly have a period of fasting beforehand, to shave off a few tenths!!!

Hi Kev.

These pilgrimages to my new found centre of religion are holiday time, most definitely not work related. Accordingly I decide when to go. More specifically the Nurburgring management decide by how they set out their public access calendar.

For a trip I try to find weekends between early april and late september (better chance with the weather) when there are the following public sessions give or take a few hours on saturday and sunday.

Friday Afternoon - At least 17.15 to 19.30
Saturday - 08.00 to 19.30
Sunday - 08.00 to 15.00

This allows everyone to take the eurotunnel and get into France by midday european time. Drive to Nurburg, drop off bags, do a few laps. All day saturday driving and viewing. Sunday driving and viewing until about 3pm then cannonball it back to Calais, then take eurotunnel and try to get into england by 9pm english time. This allows me to get home by midnight and be up fresh for work on monday.

With the cost of eurotunnel, hotels etc it's worth getting driving in on all of the three days and having breaks in between laps, due to the level of concentration required it is very tiring.

Yourself and my fellow PHers are most welcome on any of the trips I arrange. If in a group we can also arrange for Ring Virgins to have a passenger lap before they drive the circuit, together with a passenger who knows his way around for their first 2/3 laps (Safety is absolutely paramount).

There is a bloody brilliant website set up by an british guy called Ben Lovejoy, it gives all the details you could ever want to know about the Ring . I met him on my last trip. His website is at:

www.nurburgring.org.uk

cheers

Nearer the time, we'll sort it all out. Manu, you and I will make sure Kevin WILL come along!

I think you are right, I'll watch and learn from a (audible) distance when you are be educating by Max, as long as I don't fall too behind skills wise.

BTW, Manu you're a ba***rd!!! Rich, I feel for ya, but you'll know that it was the best money you've ever spent on the 360!! Just wait till you get it on and hear it.

I will pop along in The Red Baron, once the roll cage is fitted and I get those three inch harnesses in

I've driven the 'ring before and it is awesome. The Dorint is superb as well, although slightly pricey compared to the local gasthofen.

So, count me in Kev, at this early stage. My circumstances may change, but it's an initial yes. As it's Guard's Red you'll never know my car's not a dancing donkey

Kev
And while we're on this 'dancing donkey' business have you looked closely at the badge on your car? Looks a bit equine with heraldic overtones to me

Talking of the ring,
sometimes the old bill like to block part of it to stop the cruisers with their trays delivering smoke and rubber along the espalanade.

You did mean Southend seafront?
