You should have bought the car you fell in love with. The reason it didn t sell was that it was overpriced not because the spec was poor.

Now you re going to mess about with the expense and hassle of a wrap and the residual value hit when selling a previously wrapped car. Together, they probably add up to as much as the hit you d have taken buying the unmolested car in the spec you actually wanted.

You ve missed your chance now, but the number one rule of supercar buying is to buy the car you want, not the car you think the next owner will want.
It was selling for 150k and the main dealer brought it for 165k. I offered 142 they wouldn’t budge as had already taken a huge loss on it.

Black ones same age same millage going for 110/115 then wrap for 3.5k.

Huge gap there on the money!

Agreed - it was monstrously overpriced from the outset. They probably bought it in during the bubble pricing and thought that rarity and the fashion for Nardo Grey was worth a premium.

If you like grey, there ought to be a few grigio silverstone cars kicking about.

Do a quick google. I thought the same but if you change a car from black to grey for example its actually illegal not to! It comes with a £1000 if you get caught having not told them .
I wouldn’t worry about this, I had a wrap on and was pulled over for speeding, they even asked if the car was wrapped but were not in the least bit bothered about that.

DVLA pulled you over? Weird.

Indeed, the fact it exists tells you that there s always someone with alternative taste! It s absolutely not for me, not in a million years and I honestly don t think it looks good at all.

There was also a brown 488 Spider that hung around at DL until it was eventually bought. The brown paint and cloth interior actually worked ok but I couldn t get away from the fact that it was a brown Ferrari.
There was more to the 488 than just being brown. It was a 70th anniversary, based on a 1971 365GTC 4 and was 1 of 1. Yes, may be not everyone’s cup of tea, but I loved it and bought it. I’ve attended many events and most comments are favourable when they see it in the flesh and understand the historical nature of the car.

Each to their own. 😎

Sensitive much? I m not knocking it and I genuinely commend you on your choice, it’s a fantastic car whatever the colour. However, it s not for me. Simple as that really and no malice intended.

What I don't understand is how anyone knows how much a dealer actually paid for a car. Most particularly if it was a P/X you're only ever going to be seeing half the deal. Dealer doesn't mind £10 over market on the trade-in value if he's got £10k over market on the matching sale.

All the matters when you're buying a car is what price you're willing to offer. If you can find a cheaper/better car elsewhere - go for it.

I don’t know if they do colour wrapping (I know they do PPF) but Topaz seem to have a good reputation, might be worth giving them a call and seeing what they think?

Yes they and Litchfield do this paint wrapping system. As for the Brown 488, it’s 1 of 1 for a reason, a bum for every seat though. Owner is happy, that’s the only thing that matters. Enjoy

Brown Ferraris are awesome looking cars ... just needs silver or black brake calipers and preferably without the shields, but that is tough to achieve ...

I know a chap who has a Rosso Corsa 458 Spider without the shields and I have to say it looks really weird!
