My insurance is due for newal and I'm trying to get some decent quotes but none are forthcoming. Does anyone know why I can't get a quote below 5K? I'm 29, married, homeowner, 4 years no-claims. Car is 550M right hand drive ..... oh and I got an SP50 in 1999 (3 points). I am currently insured with UK Insurance. Tried RAC and they quoted me 15K !!! Marenello quoted 10K !!! Pearl say I'm too young, the rest won't touch me with a barge pole due to the value of the vehicle. Help !!!

Have you tried Direct Line ? 550 insurance premiums seem to be very high in general. My 355 was 1K but my 550 ( collecting next week ) is 2K. I'm 37 with full no claims. Its probably the fact that your under 30 thats the killer.

Common problem this one. Take a look here:www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=17676&f=0&h=0&hw=insurance
especially Ninja's post. I insure mine on limited mileage policies (5K miles per annum) and have been insured for the last two years with ClassicLine (Ian Fray) 01455 619022. Ca. 1K each. Usually do a trawl of the numbers listed in any FOC magazine, most of whom are covered in the above thread. The other possibility if the car is <80K is Tesco. Other Ferrari owners have insured through them, and for my Golf, they were £100 cheaper than the cheapest quote from my broker.

Don't despair- you should be able to do a lot better than where you are now.

456 thanks so much for this. The never-ending questions about my personal life, from brokers, were really getting to me. Christ knows what relevence the value of my house and how long I've been working have got to do with car insurance. Some of the questions are scandelous.

Will let you know how I get on.
