After buying a set of 4 new tyres for the 348 the other week, I've now run over a bloody tac, gone through the top of the tyre Is it repairable or not worth the risk?

new tyre time I would have thought. Personally I never like to take chances with tyres, after all, they're all thats between you and the ground and not worth taking chances on... Might be worth getting it repaired and keeping it as a spare perhaps...

At least the tyres are probably new enough such that a single tyre is viable, rather than having to buy a new pair.....

Bad luck ;(

It can get worse than that! Ran over a piece of scrap metal this afternoon in the 911. Both offside tyres sliced in the sidewall and well knackered. Feck. Parked up and stranded. My little boy was with me too.

Full marks to Dennis in the Service Centre at Lancaster Porsche in Harston. He called Cambridge Performance Tyres for me and they came out to me. Ended up replacing the front offside and both rears, since the tyres originally on the rears have now been discontinued. Willshers Garage in Orwell let CPT use their tyre fitting equipment (saved me over an hour waiting) and I was on my way again, though not before several people living nearby had come out to have a chat and check everything was under control.

Rather costly day, but strangely uplifting!

On topic (saw your post and launched into a game of snap), I agree completely with Rich. Good idea not to piss around with tyres- no cheapies, remoulds, repairs or anything that compromises your physical connection to the road. On any car, not just the fast ones. In any case IIRC there is a speed limit on repaired tyres (something like 80mph)so best go new.
