Murciélago R-GT debut in Oct

Racing Lambo to hit the track in October

The new Murciélago R-GT, launched recently at the Frankfurt Motor Show, was out on track for the first time last week in Vallelunga with test driver Dindo Capello at the helm.

The roll-out on the first day was followed by two days of testing which ran smoothly. However, the availability of components from suppliers has resulted in a decision to give the Murciélago R-GT it’s first public outing at the Monza round of the FIA GT championship, 17-19 October.

Capello, not surprisingly enjoyed his first stint in the new car and enthused, “There’s so much potential with the Murciélago R-GT. Within the limited testing time, we managed to complete many laps and to keep improving the car each time out .”

A spokesbloke for Automobili Lamborghini, said, “The whole team has worked extremely hard to prepare the car for this first test within a relatively short time frame, but we agree with Reiter’s decision, due to the availability of parts, to be racing for the first time at Monza .”

The Murciélago R-GT was developed in reaction to demand from customers who want to race Murciélagos. It's been developed jointly with race engineering company Reiter Engineering in Germany, and parent company Audi’s sports division, Audi Sport,

Will Lambo be running a works team? It would be good to see them in GT racing proper. Shame about the c**p photo. Black car against a dimly lit black background

Bet you the updated 04 Corsa with optional Halfords aero kit and dump-valve modified engine would wipe the floor with the Lambo R-GT though.

They will need to lighten it loads to be successful. Lambos are miles too heavy in road trim.

The road car must have crap aerodynamics if the racer needs a wing that looks bigger than the rest of the car...
