IMHO Front Lift is essential if at any time you envisage driving or parking where there are ramps. My Gallardo has grounded several times on car park ramps or steep drives. My previous R8 would occasionally brush the ground on the same ramps - in the Gallardo it sounds as though the bottom of the car is being ripped off! Very unpleasant. I wish I had lifting. It is now standard equipment in the US, and I seem to remember numerous complaints on US forums when the car was initially introduced without lifting.

Ive been watching this thread with interest. I bought my 06' egear G on the back of driving an 07' e gear spyder that we borrowed when being members of P1 (the lime green car if anyone knows of it, from the North Branch of P1, before they went tits up!)

My car dosnt have lifting gear and scrapes on the bottom of our driveway. Highly annoying as the P1 07' spyder didnt scrape on our drive even with the lifting gear left on its lowest position! In fact I dont think I ever needed to activate it.

If I was to buy another Gallardo in the future it would be high on the options list.

Lifting Gear can be retrofitted and costs about £4K.

It gives you 50mm of front end lift. Can't help between the front and rear axles though!
Hi ,would that fit an 04,and if i fitted it how much for all the parts needed?
cheers

Not sure to be honest, was only a factory option on 06MY onwards - try our service dept 0121 306 4007.

I just parked my current car (Aston V8V) over the problem pavement and took some pictures of the clearance.

Do you think a Gallardo with front lift turned on will clear this?

I had a very similar problem with my V8 Vantage and my own driveway, it was the main reason I had when I sold it - I just couldn't take it home.
Gallardo even with no front lift kit has caused me no problems at all.

My main issue was with front clearance though, not just 100% sure with the side shots as you posted.

The distance between the front and rear wheels of the Gallardo compared to the Aston will also affect whether it will hit the high point of the crossing or not. It's not just about the height. The further the front and rear wheels are apart, more chance of bottoming out.

Hi Sab

Yes and from what I can tell the Wheelbase on the Gallardo is a little shorter which helps:

AM V8V Wheelbase: 2,600 mm (102.5 in)
Gallardo Wheelbase: 2,560 mm (100.8 in)

It's hard to find an official "ride height" dimension for both but it appears the Gallardo is 5.1" and the Aston 5.6".

So with the front lifted 2" it should compensate 1" in the middle of the car, and I should be fine.... theoretically!

Hi

Yes, in theory, the maths is right! Another thing to think about is that there may be something under the car which may protrude further down than the side sills, e.g. exhaust. You really could do with a friendly owner and actually (carefully) trying it.

Good luck!

Hi Matt...

Sure I can get one down to you at some point to see if it will go.

Haven't a car with lifting currently but reckon it would sail over that hump.

I've emailed you from work today so let's see if we can get together.

If anyone near St Albans / Herts has a Gallardo they would be willing to bring along and "test" for me, I would make it worth their while! I am struggling to find a spec I like WITH front lift, so it would be great to rule out needing the lift if I can....
