Great event, not as busy as last years, but still tons to see.
Just as we were leaving this afternoon, the Lotus Camel came a cropper on the chicane, does any one know if the driver was ok?

MAVIS!!! 42 Litres of fire breathing packhard Bentley monster and they called her mavis! Hilarious and what a sight to behold when she fired up, utterly magnificent. Great show, some sections that could be worked on, enthusiasts need some incentives to bring their cars and a nice tarmac access road so a bit of rain won't obliterate their cars with mud. One thing that sets this apart, what a friendly, down to earth bunch of car mad people, the sunny period we had today shows just how good this show can be, I'm hooked.

Just got back. Brilliant walked over one of the bridges with a big smile on my face as a biker went underneath hanging onto a super moto for dear life. I tried to get a pic of the xj220 and missed it completely going to go next year and stay over with Jacko and his 944.
Liked the Brutus and the jag xfr trying to get sideways out of the chIcane.

Big thank you to the organisers
Stood still I'm afraid, but here you go.

With regards to cholmondeley and the poor turn out on the club stands, what utter rubbish. There was plenty of cars wanting to exhibit, but due to poor organisation they were not let onto the stands and were made to park in the public car parks. This was extremely disappointing after all the effort that had been made to get there from all over the country. With regards to the noble stand, during the weekend we had 11 cars turn up wanting to exhibit and even got told off for finding ways to get own access across the muddy fields so the public could view the vehicles. After meeting with the organisers some access was sorted to get cars on the stands, hence cars appeared on the Austin Healey stand, yippee.nice to see and we gave them a cheer.
You should appreciate the effort that the exhibitors made to get there and crossing the fields in their valuable and rare cars and consider the amount of cleaning that they now have to do.we tried to make the best out of the British weather.

Just to reiterate the above, the club stands were so poor due purely to the weather and the lack of organisation. I went on Friday to check out the stands and show and got stuck in the mud and had to be towed out by a tractor. There was no way there were ever going to be a decent club turnout with the gate shut (as it was from just after 8am on Saturday and rightly so)! Knowing the poor weather seems to follow this event, I feel the organisers need to do a lot of thinking regarding access roads to this area if the Clubs are to come again. It was simply a disaster (and an expensive one).

He was fine - it just ended up going backwards into the straw. The marshalls pushed the car into the space behind the bales at the chicane while the recovery truck did yet another victory lap. and the driver got and out walked over to the marshalls' post to wait for a lift back to the pits.

Nowhere near as exciting as the 911 that lost it at roughly the same point last year - he ploughed straight through the bales that he was supposed to drive round and just about landed in amongst the car clubs (I still remember the car seeming to head straight for me).

As for the car clubs and mud issue. I agree that organisation could have been better, but at least they saved us from being axle deep in mud and having to risk being towed out on Saturday. FWIW the staff who were trying to co-ordinate the club area sounded pretty frustrated with the management too, but were trying their best in the absence of adequate resources.

Maybe we need to get the clubs together and remind the management that a) we actually pay (as individuals) to be there and b) they advertise us as part of the event so need to make things a bit easier for us if they're going to continue to do that ? Straw, sawdust and gravel dumped on top of deep mud don't work that well (I'm going to have to get my exhaust checked this morning once I've scraped the mud and manure off the car). Several MOP did mention how disappointed they were with the apparently poor turnout this year as the clubs are usually, for them, the best bit of the event.

It would be really nice if they could find a way to let us come in through gate 1 and use the road around by the Chapel (behind the Victory motorcycles tent) to get on to the track and then on to the club stands from there as long as we arrive by 8 a.m. (give them an hour to get the track back together with our assistance) ? Latecomers and early leavers would continue to use gate 3.

First of all massive thanks to sporting bears. I had a ride in the Orange Gallardo Coupe (an SE I think) which was epic and fulfilled a lifetime ambition of driving a Lamborghini. I think the owner knew he made my day by the amount I laughed when he was accelerating hard. I have been looking at used prices and how to sell a kidney! What a great way to raise money for charity I will look out for future events.

Other highlights, Bond XK Jaguar, Chrome M3, XJ220, Aston 177, Noble M600, Brutus, V8 Atom, mental sidecars, etc etc!

I enjoyed the event a great deal and think it was worth the £20 I paid to go. It was a shame that the car clubs couldn't all get to the exhibition area like last year. Great effort by those who did get there including a load of Nobles, some Lancia Delta Integrales and some Skylines. The gulf liveried Noble was particularly nice. Largely due to the weather the event was not quite as good as last year which was slightly drier on the Saturday.

Top, top bloke. Spent ages talking to him with my brother who sat in, started her up and had a play.

The guy with the mental Cortina (parked where the pedestrians walk up towards the SB).

Cool story of how it was his dads company car and he kept and restored it. I think he said sub 4 to 60 as well!

I don't think anyone is aiming criticism at the car clubs, it's squarley at the organisers....as I said ''it's rained all 5 CPOP's, so it's hardly a surprise''...having been on club stands in 2010 and 2009 I found it odd that an event that charges everyone to come along makes so little effort for those who bring the exhibits at their own cost.

I've offered my help directly in the past to CPOP and got ignored so there we are...

I was asked by Club Lancia Sport some time ago if i'd like to show my Integrale on their pitch at CPOP and gladly accepted a slot for Saturday. Had the car professionally valeted on Tuesday ready to go. The missus and I had been umming and arring as to whether to take our 19 month old little boy due to the weather. We decided we'd take him in the end.

After leaving York at 6am and driving through some piss poor weather (particularly horrendous rain on the M62 over Saddleworth yikes) we arrived at gate 3 about 2 minutes after 8am and were turned back to gate 1 and the public car park. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement after getting the car looking glorious and looking forward to showing the car for the 1st time since ownership.

Anyway, by the end of a very showery day we were 100% pleased we'd taken the little man for a day out, he got to sit in a fire engine, Police Car (with sirens), was throughly transfixed by the Honda Moto X display and BRCA R/C car display and we were over by the car clubs when the Wing Walkers flew in directly above. Oh, and he got a 250 mile ride in the front seat of the Grale!! Safe to say, he was interested in everything and had a lovely day out and as did we smile

Here's hoping the weather improves for next year! And please allow me to show the car that didn't get its chance on Saturday!!

(Managed to get it back to lovely shiny clean yesterday!)

Rob

Edit, missus just sent through a couple more shots smile

I an my wife travelled up from Warwickshire with two cars and as instructed turned up as instructed on Sunday at gate 3 before 8:00am to get on our clubstand. We were redirected to Gate 1 sent down towards the track and asked to make up our own pitch in the corner of a Public Car Park some distance away from the club car area. We ended up with a mixture of stranded classic and supercars gathered in the corner of the car park, none of which could get to their club stands. The car park staff were doing their best and CPOP organisers appeared to be making it up a they went along.

In the end we had one solo car that somehow managed to make it on to our club stand. The solo car on our stand was not representative of the efforts being made by others who had tried to get there.

With the impending storm, we drove down from Leyland and pitched the tent on Thursday night, then returned home. I then returned on Friday morning whilst the rest of the family and a couple of friends came down Friday evening, forward planning. We all knew that it was going to be another wet weekend, thus if you go with that in your mind......... Photos are here http://www.lawrencecliftphotography.co.uk/10205/in...

Glad you liked my noble! It was a bit of a struggle to get it onto the stand. We got off without much of an issue early on Sunday morning before the gates opened. We had a great time despite the weather but its a shame more club cars couldn't get through. The location of the event is great and the mix of things running on the track was superb.

The only thing that put a slight damper on it was the really poor attitude of the chap running the sweet stall, he was clearly and understandably peed off with the lack of customers but to be grumpy and rude with the ones he did get was not good.

Was yours the ex-racer converted back to a road car? If so, thanks for letting me take a seat inside, I'm David's colleague, the one with the muddy shoes! It was a tight squeeze!

Thanks Rob. Yes, that M3 had my ears ringing for quite a while, and I thought my little old 8v integrale was noisy hehe. Glad you still made the effort to get to the show.
