Haynes Motor Museum Meet.

It has been suggested that a PistonHeads meeting in the South West would be a good idea, so how about a meeting at the Haynes Motor Museum, at Sparkford near Yeovil?
I'm sure that you are all aware of the Haynes group through their manuals(the ones that have pictures of what your suposed to be looking at, but theirs is brand new and yours is covered in cack) but did you know they have a museum? Course you did! Want to go there with a load of other PH'ers? If so read on.
How about this,
One sunday after September the 8th, which is when the little darlings go back to school around here, and the woman on the museum reception said that would be best, as before then it's all very crowded. We can get a tour, guided by the museums curator, at a cost of £5.00each if we can muster 15 or more people. There is a large car park and picnic area, along with a cafe for the more affluent. More details of the museum can be found at www.haynesmotormuseum.co.uk
So,anyone interested? If so please make yourselves known, as I will have to book the tour (if there is sufficent interest). it's a little way off, so hopefully people can get things organised, Cheers Simon.

Simon--I did a good event there a couple of months ago where the public paid to ride in a fezza ... I know I got an Ultima but hey, someone had to show 'em!!!!
Anyhow, the museum arranged for them (ferrari owners club) to use the small handling circuit. It was all for charity & all that, but why not ask???? Call it "RIDE IN A REAL SUPER CAR"

I have managed to book the Haynes Motor Museum Guided tour for SUNDAY 13TH OCTOBER.
This was the only date availble this year, as all other tours are already booked!
The Museum opens at 09.30 hrs, and our tour starts at 10.30. The cost is £5.00 per person, if we manage to muster 15 or over, which is payable on the door.
The tour is with the curator of the museum and lasts for approximately 1 hour.
There is a large car partk and picnic area, and the museum is very well sign posted from the A303.

Count me in - I have not been for a few years but always saw a few of their cars on the A303 on sunny afternoons blowing out a few cobwebs. The cobra was a real eye opener and I had to push the Mk2 Escort to the limit to go past (they were just out for a cruise) and let them go past again 
I might try and amble down for that, although its a trek from Kidderminster.
Mike Penn the Curator is a great Chap he'll keep you talking for ages.
The Haynes family are well into racing with Sir John Running a Tuscan some years ago, and the car is in the museum. His two sons both race 911's which is an even greater achievement when you realise one of them is in a wheelchair... the bugger is quick too.
Mike used to race himself i believe and now leaves that to Gareth who races a mg midget, winning the championsip last year..
